Hope Haven Animal Rescue
Who We Are
Hope Haven Animal Rescue is staffed by volunteers who are dedicated to reducing the number of abandoned, abused, and uncared for pets; ultimately helping to eliminate this unfortunate cycle. We want to see a dramatic reduction of the number of animals euthanized to those that are absolutely necessary (i.e. animals that are a potential danger to society or animals that are chronically ill which can not live quality lives). We believe that by helping educate the general public, government officials, and other animal organizations about correct care and loving ownership of their pets, working with other rescue groups, and participation in bringing spay and neuter awareness to our community, we can some day achieve this goal.
Hope Haven is a small organization, but we plan on helping out the animals in a great way. We will take in as many needy animals as we can, as space and funding allows. Adoptable animals that come to us will remain in our care until caring, loving, responsible homes are found for them. These animals will be given proper medical care including current vaccinations and sterilization.
As resources become available, Hope Haven will expand and improve. In order to do so we need volunteers who are willing to learn new skills and be an active part in changing the way animals are treated in our community and throughout the country. We also need supplies. ANY contribution you are able to make (money to buy what the animals need, pet food and litter, building materials for kennels, etc.) will be greatly appreciated. We currently are in desperate need of someone who can repair a fence and build two more dog kennels. We are also in desperate need of foster homes for cats. If you know of anyone who could assist with these needs please ask them to contact us.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas you would like to share. We look forward to working with you and our community for years to come.
Our Featured Pet...
Sammy and Harley are great, well behaved, mild mannered medium sized dogs that need a home together. Sammy is a Sheltie Cross who weighs about 20 pounds and Harley is a Shepherd mix who weighs about 40 pounds. They are house trained, crate trained, love kids, get along with other pets, ride well in a car, and just want a family (or person) to call theirs! They really are the easiest pair of dogs we have ever had in our care!

We do require a home check at the potential new pet home, a veterinarian reference if there are any other pets in the home to ensure the pets are spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and we do require a new pet parent to sign a contract as well as abide by all local, state, and federal laws.
News
June is adopt a shelter cat month! Please give a call to arrange an appointment to meet one of wonderful feline friends if you are looking to adopt one. We have adult cats only at this time.
Tuxedo was a little dog who we honestly thought would be with us forever. He was a cute little bug but wan't the easiest of dogs in a shelter environment. He wanted to chase the cats, fight with some of the other dogs, pee on his favorite person regularly to ensure she was "his", and barked whenever he didn't get EXACTLY what he wanted when he wanted (which of course was often because we don't allow those "bad" behaviors here). We knew he needed a home where he would be the only pet and would have LOTS of attention. We had many people call on him, only to find out they had a dog or two and really thought he could be "worked into the pack" or people who didn't have any other pets but whom were gone ten hour days and only one or two people in the home. Well, we knew this little live wire just wouldn't work out well in those kind of homes, and as much as we really were ready for him to have a new home, we didn't let him go to them. Just before Christmas we received a call from a teenager stating his father had wanted a Corgi or Corgi cross since he was a kid. They had been looking for a few months (every since their old dog had passed on due to natural causes), had no other pets, had a LARGE family (and someone was almost always home), a great fenced back yard for him to play in, and was all set up and ready to add a furry family member to their life. We were so happy, especially a few weeks later when we checked on him and he was fitting in well and seemed just plum happy! This was one adoption we could truly be VERY thankful for this Holiday season, and rejuvinated my belief that "if you try hard enough, and wait long enough, there is the right home for most pets", and this will keep me on the right track... trying to keep this little rescue going for the next year and hopefully beyond, no matter what struggles are ahead!
