Who We Are

PPPAR is a no-kill adoption center located on 2 acres in Marion County, Mississippi. We currently house more then 30 dogs in a large fenced in area. We are working toward getting the funding necessary to build a kennel to house the dogs in indoor-outdoor runs that will be heated and air conditioned. We also have plans to build a room suitable to house newborn orphaned puppies and a barn suitable to house horses. We are a completely volunteer rescue that works with the rescue of dogs, puppies and horses. We have a very low overhead so all monies donated go directly to the care of the animals. We operate on donations (both from private individuals and from corporate sponsors) and money directly out of our own pockets.**We accept dogs as space permits but we currently do NOT take cats** Our animals come from kill shelters, private owners, and sometimes even from classified ads. Every animal is given lots of individual attention and love before they are adopted out to their "forever" family. We feel that preventing the births of the animals before they occur is the solution to the problem of overpopulation and strays. One of our main goals here at the rescue center is to set up a spay/neuter program for all cats and dogs in our target area. Although we recognize the need for organizations that euthanize millions of animals every year we feel that by focusing on preventing those births we will greatly reduce the numbers that other organizations are forced to euthanize every year. We currently are working on getting several different grants that could help make this possible. Private donations and volunteers are also needed to help make this a reality. All dogs are kept up to date on shots and all other necessary medical attention. We work closely with Dr. Wallace Carson at Columbia Animal Hospital in Columbia, MS. We work with various other rescue groups throughout the state and in neighboring states to ensure that every animal will have a home to go to when they leave the shelters. We also provide temporary and/or foster care. We speak for those who have no voice and defend those who have no defense. All of the animals that are placed by us are temperment tested, exposed to all types of other animals, socialized, and UTD on shots before they are adopted out.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption process is simple and our Pre Adoption Applications are online for easy access. They can be submitted via email or postal mail and once we get them we will start the screening process. Final approval can be granted in as little as 3 days of your applications arrival to PPPAR. Adoption Fees Dogs $65 Puppies $75 Adoption donations for dogs/puppies include spay/neuter, heartworm testing, flea treatment, all shots & disease testing ~~ADOPTION GUIDELINES FOR PPPAR~~ PRE ADOPTION APPLICATIONS The pre adoption application MUST be filled out in it's entirity before any potential adoption will be started. There is a space for 3 references on the application and family members are NOT to be used. Any use of family members as a reference will automatically void the pre adoption form! There is also a space for veterinary and references and these MUST be filled in as well. If you do not have a veterinarian then you need to research this and find the one that is going to be the most appropriate for your potential animal. PPPAR will not deny an adoption application solely on the lack of a vet reference BUT those application lacking those important references will be filed behind those who do have them listed. DOG & CAT ADOPTION GUIDELINES PPPAR prefers that our dogs go to homes with a fenced yard. However, we realize that this is not always possible so we will work with the potential adopters who do not have the fenced in yard. PPPAR does require that each adopted dog be allowed at least 1 hour of outside exercise per day either in a dog park, on a long walk, or in a fenced in area. Play is a necessary part of dog life and is an important part of their well being. PPPAR will NOT adopt to a home that requires the dog to stay kenneled for more than 8 hours per day! PPPAR will NOT adopt either dogs or cats to outside homes! Our wish is for these animals to be a part of the family they are going to and an outside home will not give them that luxury.
