Who We Are
We are individuals who are trying to help promote the adoption and rescue of animals from Horn Lake Animal Shelter and help reunite owners with lost pets. It is our goal to substantially reduce the number of adoptable animals that are put to sleep at this facility by finding permanent or foster homes.
Adopting a friend
Strays are held for 5 working days for owner to reclaim. After that time, they are available for adoption. There is no set holding period once the period to reclaim has past and depends on available shelter space. The fee to adopt for individuals is $10 and you must furnish proof of prepaid rabies vaccination for dogs over 3 mos. of age. The shelter is not set up to do any vaccinations at this time or spay/neuter. Health of animals is not guaranteed and they should be taken to your vet immediately for examination and appropriate vaccinations.
If you see an animal you are interested in adopting, please contact the shelter and refer to the animal by id # given. You can reach the shelter at 662-393-5857. You can also contact the shelter by e-mail, but due to the Urgent need for adoption in most cases a phone call should also be made. Normal shelter hours are 7am- 6pm Mon-Tues-Thurs and & 7am-3:30 pm Wed and Friday for adoption. Shelter is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The shelter is located just off Goodman Rd. at the end of Center St.- a short distance west of Goodman Rd/Hwy 51 intersection and is just a short distance south of Memphis, TN. Please call ahead if you are not in the immediate area to verify daily times as they can vary due to employee absences and need. This is a very small, rural shelter with only 3 full time employees.
