The City of Excelsior Springs is looking to build a new animal sheltering facility in the near future!! Watch here for updates on our progress! Call us at 816-630-0816 to learn how you can make a monetary donation in support of our 2008 fundraising campaign. All proceeds will benefit the new shelter facility for supplies and equipment. Who We Are

The Excelsior Springs Animal Shelter is a facility of the City of Excelsior Springs Animal Control. We are committed to public safety and animal welfare in the Excelsior Springs Community.

All efforts are made to ADOPT the animals that enter our shelter! We impound approximately 1100 animals each year. Our facility contains only 10 cat kennels and 6 indoor/outdoor dog kennels. We are staffed by 2 full-time Animal Control Officers, and we do not currently have a volunteer staff. Animal Control and Shelter services are provided 7 days a week. We encourage visitors to call prior to their visit to schedule an appointment.

If you are thinking about getting a new pet, we HOPE you will choose to adopt a pet from an animal shelter. As much as we would like for families to adopt pets exclusively from OUR shelter, please search other shelters if we don't have the kind of pet you are looking for.

Adopting a Friend

We ask that potential adoptors schedule an appointment with one of our Animal Control Officers to meet the shelter pet being considered for adoption. Simply call us at 816-630-0816 or email us at esaspets@yahoo.com to schedule your appointment! All potential adoptors are asked to complete an adoption application form. All adopted pets are spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated before they are released to their new adoptive families.

Following is our adoption fee schedule: Female Cats $93.00. Male Cats $78.00. Female Dogs start at $100.00. Male Dogs start at $90.00. All fees include spay or neuter, rabies vaccination, and canine or feline booster. Additional testing (heartworm, FIV/Fe-Leuk) can be administered at the adoptors request for an additional fee.

From Kansas City, take I35 North to 69 North. 69 North to 10 Hwy into Excelsior Springs. Follow 10 Hwy through Excelsior Springs until you reach the 4-way stop light downtown at Kansas City Avenue. Turn right (south) onto Kansas City Ave. The animal shelter is just under a mile down the road on the left! Be sure to notice the Historic Elms Resort and Spa (www.elmsresort.com) and the award winning Wabash BBQ Restaurant (www.wabashbbq.com) as you pass by on Kansas City Avenue!
