Note to adopters: Lassie and Cleo and Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We usually don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog or cat but we do our best to make them that way. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our pets are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue pet will make you a better person.
Last Chance Black Dog Rescue is a licensed Missouri foster home based rescue. We specialize in the hard luck cases. Dogs who are "unadoptable" or hard to place. We also have many wonderful dogs who just ended up in a high kill shelter with no place to go through no fault of their own.
We are foster home based so we only have room for a certain number of dogs at a time. Donations and supplies are always welcomed. Kennels, firewood, storage bins, blankets, paper towels, dog food, flea medications, etc.
All our adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, UTD on shots and dewormed prior to adoption. All dogs over 6 months are heartworm tested.
To adopt one of our pets you must complete an adoption application, we will always check your references and do a home visit. Upon application approval, an adoption contract must be completed and the adoption fee paid and then you will have your new pet. Adoption Fees Puppies - $150-250 Adult Dogs - $100-200 (we are running a special on select large adult dogs for $50)
