Saint Louis County Animal Care and Control
Saint Louis County Animal Care and Control provides the community with a variety of services. Animal Control officers are responsible for ensuring the safety of pets as well as humans. Our officers are available on a daily basis to respond to reports of animal bites, stray animals, and reports of abuse and neglect.
Animal Control authorities operate a shelter and adoption programs to protect and find homes for many unwanted animals. If you are interested in adopting an animal or have an animal that you can no longer keep, call (314) 615-0650 or come in for information. The shelter is open from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Saint Louis County Animal Control requires that all animals adopted from the shelter be spayed or neutered. Spaying/neutering pets is a big part of being a responsible pet owner. If our adoptable animals are not already spayed/neutered, we do require a pre-pay from a local veterinarian. The pet is delivered to the veterinarian on the day of surgery to ensure that the surgery is performed. There are many unwanted and homeless pets in our community. Spaying/neutering will hopefully decrease this number. Saint Louis County does offer low cost spay/neuter vouchers to residents of Saint Louis County. These vouchers greatly decrease the cost of the surgery and can be obtained at either of the shelters.
