2nd Chance Animal Rescue
Our Featured Pet...
Jack is a senior rat terrier that has been with us since March of 2009. His former owner passed away and he has difficulty adjusting to life with other dogs. He prefers to be an only dog and would love to live in a home where he can receive a lot of attention.
Jack is about 7 years old and has been neutered. He is due to be updated on shots and rabies and a heartworm test. He is housetrained. He still has quite a long life ahead. Won't you be the one that spends the rest of his life with him?
Who We Are
We are 5 ladies that were volunteers at our local shelter. We were having to turn away some really awesome dogs because the shelter could not take owner surrenders. 2nd Chance Animal Rescue was created to fill that particular void. We will take an owner surrender without judgements and then place them into suitable homes. We have also rescued dogs and puppies that were in less than desirable circumstances, brought them back to health and found them suitable homes. We also have some puppymill dogs that are currently being socialized in order to let them go to their new homes to live their lives without fear.
All our dogs are given the best possible care prior to adoption. This includes, but not limited to, spay/neuter, vaccinations and rabies. There have been occasions in which medical issues have arisen and they receive the best medical care and attention. They are kept in a home environment and are socialized with other dogs and humans. Puppies will come with a health certificate from the vet to ensure that the new owner will know exactly what has been completed.
Adopting a friend
We do require a vet reference prior to consideration for adoption. Most of the dogs that we meet have come from less than desirable circumstances and we put a lot of time, love and care into ensuring that they are healthy when placed for adoption. We want to make sure that every dog we adopt is going into a situation where the same care will continue to be provided. If a dog you wish to adopt from us is going to be your first pet, then we ask for at least two personal references that can vouch that you are ready, willing and able to provide for your new dog. We ask that you sign an adoption contract at the time of adoption in which you agree to take care of your new dog just as we have.
Our adoption fees vary from $75 to $200. The adoption fee is based on the breed of the dog, the age and what kind of veterinary care the dog has received. Puppies, in general, will be adopted at a higher price because we feel that we have offered you a companion for many years to come at more than half the price of purchasing from a breeder. It also goes to help our special needs get the special care they desperately need.
Come Visit Us!
Our normal business hours are by appointment only. As we operate out of foster homes, the particular dog may not be at the address listed below. On special occasions, at the potential adopters request, we will be available on Sundays to have you visit with a dog you are interested in.
