Cher's story is heartbreaking -- on Christmas Eve 2007 we rescued her from a Kansas breeder who bred her endlessly - then dumped her to die with a degenerative hip condition.
Cher is a special needs dog but she is one very special lady with a ton of love to give.
She has come SO far since joining our program. For instance, at first she was aggressive to other dogs but today she's a wonderful family member who wanders freely among the other dogs in the temporary foster home. She's very smart and learns more every day about being part of a family. She ADORES getting belly / leg / ear rubs - obivously the only time in her life she's had such "luxury." She'll come sit by you, carefully balance and gently put one paw on you to ask for a belly rub. She's housetrained, crate trained and loves to be loved on. She's made huge progress in the time we've had her!! You can see the gratitude in her eyes - her look will melt you. She adores her walks and can't wait for them. She would LOVE having a fenced yard (there is no yard at current foster home).. But most of all she loves being with you!!!
MEDICAL:: Cher has DM (degenerative myelopathy), a progressive hip/leg condition. There is no medication other than glucosamine supplements. She is perfectly functional but walks slowly and needs a home with no stairs and non-slip surfaces such as carpet. We had worked her up to walking 2 miles a day but recently one of her front legs has begun hurting her and the vets haven't been able to isolate the cause. SO NOW CHER WOULD BENEFIT FROM A WHEELCHAIR, which would make it easier for her to get around in her current foster home. Please consider making a small donation toward getting her this aid. Just use the "Chip In" button below. Thank you!
CHER needs a special angel! She needs long-term foster home or adopter - someone to give this golden girl a few golden months or years in which to know real love. She deserves to live out her life in comfort, love and dignity after 10+ years of being overbred and confined.
