Our Featured Pet...

To choose just one beautiful pet over all the others would be doing a disservice to the many that need good homes just as much as the featured (a.k.a. favorite). So we do not list a featured pet in the hopes that all of them will be seen as equal-opportunity potential family members! What is shown is a variety of pictures to show what type of animals we rescue. The pets in the slideshow are not necessarily still here; they may have been adopted already. They are still shown as beautiful examples of pets we have rescued and had here.

News

We have closed down for the time being. Hopefully, in the near future we will be up and running again and will have more wonderful pets up for adoption. Thank you to all those who adopted from us and bless all you rescuers out there! Please keep up the amazing work you are doing!

We have just started up since the middle of May 2006. More people can now see the furbabies we have up for adoption who are looking for their very own loving families to bond with!

Funding is our one main concern at this point in time. We have a tremendous desire to start saving more and more of God's creatures, but funds are not allowing at this time. We do not have a facility at this point and are making that our next big goal - to get land and a facility. Currently we have been adopting out from our personal residence. Due to this limitation on space and funding, our ability to rescue in earnest is compromised. If you have an animal you would like us to rescue or take in, we can only take in puppies right now that are under 5 months old due to the city limits we have to live by. We will be applying for our 501(c)3 status as soon as the funds have been raised to do that. Our rescue is currently operated by paying for vet costs and other expenses out of our own pockets and with donations from very wonderful kind-hearted supporters, just like YOU! If you would like to donate to our rescue to help us become a nonprofit and to supply for the needs of the beautiful animals we save, please donate via PayPal or contact us.

Thank you so much for supporting our rescue endeavor. We cannot do this alone, it takes many friends, allies and supporters just like you to save the many lives that are waiting for our help! The kind, gentle souls who have taken the time to read this may very well be the guardian angels for an animal waiting to be rescued by our sanctuary...will you be a guardian angel today and help us with funding so that we can save even more animals?

Who We Are

We are strictly a NO-KILL rescue! We believe that every animal, no matter what situation it comes from, has the right to live, love, and be loved! We will NEVER have an animal euthanized due to lack of space. In fact, the very word "euthanize" is a vile word to us!

God's Creatures was formed to address several issues; a few of them are:

1. Educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering our companion animals. Unlike us, most others who call themselves "shelters" or "rescues" do euthanize for the only reason that there is not enough space. We believe so strongly in life that we will NEVER even abort an unborn litter but allow them to be born and then spay the mother. We will be doing ultrasounds before every spay surgery to make sure she is not already expecting. However, it is true that many more pets are on this earth than people and that needs to be halted in it's tracks - NOT by euthanizing but by preventing more litters. By spaying or neutering your pets, you CAN and will help to save lives. Sometimes reading about it does not make it sink in...to learn more about the reality of these beautiful pets' situation, please click on the following link (WARNING - graphic material not advisable for children!): Spay and Neuter Now or Be Held Accountable Later

2. To teach about the alternatives to buying an animal, either from a backyard breeder or a pet store (please don't EVER buy an animal at a pet store). Most pet stores get their animals from puppy mills and they are guaranteed to be compromised in their health. Worse yet, the purchase encourages the puppy millers to keep on breeding and abusing animals for profit. Ever wonder where the pet store puppy's mother is? Still worse, while people are buying what is probably a puppy mill dog in the pet store, another lovable rescue animal gets euthanized in most shelters. The good news is that rescue animals inherently know they have been rescued and they are the most appreciative and loving of any animal you could ever have as a companion. The look in their eyes says that you are the world to them. Please adopt and save a life in the process!

3. We are called to this mission by the Creator of all living things...as our name says. Humans are at the top of the hierarchy when it comes to knowledge and the ability to choose our actions rather than follow instinct. We are called to be caretakers and to be responsible for the animals that share this patch of ground with us. What greater mission is there than one given by God Himself?!

4. Giant-Breed Rescue. We started in this endeavor because we rescued, and now are the family of, a couple of giant-breed dogs. They snagged our hearts faster than you can blink an eye. We decided that, since there is no way we can help every dog out there, that we would focus mainly on the large and giant breed dogs. We will take a few cats, as well (they are giant breeds at heart!). We will have our list up soon of the dog breeds we will accept into our rescue...both giant, large, and small breeds. Any breed of cat is welcome. The reason we decided to help select breeds is because we discovered that there are few rescues that focus on giant breeds and specific small breeds. The ones that do focus on them are always full and clearly need help. We are firm believers that the giant breed dogs are the calmest, most docile, and could very well be the most misunderstood type on the planet! It is a statistical fact that the most dogs euthanized are big breeds and usually black in color. People don't seem to realize that the Great Dane (world's largest dog) is the #1 apartment dog in the United States! There are shelters everywhere that have small dogs up for adoption...and very few that have giant breed dogs in their pet list. Please do not think we are biased because we have a list of acceptable breeds that we help...we simply know where our hearts lie and hope you understand.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption fees are currently based on the expenses that have gone into each pet...varying adoption fees to pay for their basic & medical care. Every pet's adoption fee is different. Once we get more established, we will change them to be the same adoption fees for every animal.

Seeing as how these dogs are taken into our hearts as well as our rescue, we have what can be seen as very strict adoption policies. We require that every animal that is adopted from us be kept as an indoors pet. NO EXCEPTIONS! We don't mean as a laundry room animal or any other single room animal either...but living in the main living area with their people. We require this since giant breed dogs are very sensitive to heat and cold and they also need to be with their "pack" of people or they will develop guaranteed behavioral problems. All dogs need to be with their people or they can become very aggressive and badly-behaved. That is just a dog's psychology. For cats, it is just naturally safer for them to be kept indoors out of the elements and away from predators and potential diseases.

We are adopting these pets out to forever homes only...if anything happens in your life that prevent you from keeping your new family member, they have to be returned to us. However, adoption fees are non-refundable.

All of our pets will be under a spay/neuter contract in which you have to get puppies and kittens altered within 30 days after they turn 4 months old. This is required by state law. All pets over 6 months old will be altered before going home with adopter. We do reclaim pets that are not altered at the 4-5 month time.

Vet and personal references are required as well as our requirement that every one of your current cats and dogs have to be spayed or neutered to be eligible to adopt from us. WE DO NOT SHIP OUR PETS! You have to come here or pay our travel expenses to deliver the pet. Out of state adoptions are welcome as long as you come here or we deliver the pet for you. If you would like a copy of our adoption application and contract for more info, please email Gods_Creatures_Rescue@yahoo.com and request one.

PLEASE HELP US OUT!

Please be heartfelt, animal-loving volunteers and help us care for our special animals. Please email us at Gods_creatures_rescue@yahoo.com if you would like to volunteer to help save animals. Here are just a few of the many ways you can volunteer to help:

URGENTLY NEEDED: Foster Homes - caring for a rescued animal in your home, until he or she is ready for adoption. Learning about their traits so that adopters know more about their new family member!

Transportation - assisting with transporting animals from owners or shelters.

Fundraising - contacting businesses and requesting either monetary or dog-supply donations. Participating in fund-raising events.

Screener for vet and personal references (make phone calls and conduct short interviews -- some calls may be long distance).

Adoption Event Coordinator/Assistant - help us at local community events to raise awareness for animal rescue and to help get our animals more exposure which may lead to adoption.

Grooming/Bathing

If you do not wish to volunteer or donate cash, please consider donating dog supplies such as beds, toys, food, elevated eating dishes, or any other miscellaneous item you believe one of our rescue animals would benefit from.

Donate a BedWe have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our rescue because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our doggie residents. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

Come Visit Us!

Since we are currently adopting from our home, we will not divulge directions to our house over the 'Net. Please understand that after your application is approved and we arrange the adoption meeting over the phone, we will give you directions. You may come and visit if you call or email first and let us know a little about you and which pet you are most interested in. Thank you.
