The Lamar City Animal Shelter is run by the City of Lamar. Animals housed in this facility are held for pre-determined time period. If not adopted in this time frame, the animal is euthanized by a licensed veterinarian.
Pawprints on The Heartland is another low cost spay/neuter organization. They travel a mobile unit to towns in Kansas. They have included Lamar, Missouri in their area of coverage. Their number is (877) 887-7729.
Adopting a friend
The adoption process requires an application be filled out. The cost to adopt is $20 which includes a 1 year rabies shot. If the animal is going to stay within the city limits of Lamar, city ordinance require rabies shot and city animal tag, also state law requires that the animal be spayed or neutered.
