Sedalia Animal Shelter Our Pets

Who We Are

Sedalia Animal Shelter is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals. We are a private non-profit organization, so in order to keep our doors open we count on the donations of people like you! We are in constant need of bleach, cat litter, dog / cat food, dog /cat treats, blankets, high efficiency laundry detergent, printer paper, volunteers, and of course CASH. We operate an animal shelter and coordinate an animal adoption program, which strongly encourages spaying and neutering of all pets in order to control the pet population. We serve the following cities, towns, and/or counties: Sedalia, Warsaw, La Monte, Windsor, Lincoln, and many other towns in Pettis and surrounding counties. The Shelter operates solely from membership fees, donations, bequests, fund-raising events, and contracts with area cities and towns. We receive no Federal, State, or City aid and do not have taxing authority. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors. All donations made to the Shelter are tax deducible to the extent the law allows. The Sedalia Animal Shelter was founded over twenty years ago in order to provide this area with a safe place to take stray or unwanted animals.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption fees for dogs range from $45.00 to $75.00. Those that are already altered prior to adoption are just $45.00, otherwise a dog adoption is $75.00 - which does include the animal's first set of shots, deworming, and their surgery to spay or neuter. ALL of our animals will be altered before going to a new home! NO EXCEPTIONS! The prices on cat adoptions range from $30.00 to $50.00, also depending on whether they come in to the shelter altered or not. If a cat comes in that is already spayed or neutered then it is just $30.00 to adopt them. Otherwise it is $50.00 which does includes the cat's first set of shots, deworming, and the surgery to spay or neuter. There is a one week trial period for all adoptions. If for any reason the animal is not going to work out for you we will gladly take it back, no questions asked and issue a voucher good for a future adoption. Since we are non-profit, we can not give any cash refunds - which is stated within the adoption contract. All potential adopters will be required to fill out a pre-adoption questionaire.
