Who We Are
Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. the Humane Society of Missouri’s 165-acre large-animal rehabilitation center, is located in Union, Missouri, and serves as one of the most comprehensive of its kind in the United States. On any given day, as many as 150 animals from throughout Missouri - including horses, cows, goats, pigs, potbellied pigs, chickens, ducks, geese and roosters - call Longmeadow Rescue Ranch their safe haven until they are adopted. Whether they have come for temporary shelter or have been impounded by law enforcement agencies as evidence in abuse cases, they receive kindness and the best of care from our full-time staff members and devoted volunteers.
Founded in 1870, the Humane Society of Missouri is committed to the prevention of cruelty, abuse and neglect of animals in St. Louis and throughout Missouri through our adoption centers, veterinary medical centers, Longmeadow Rescue Ranch, rescue and investigation officers, education programs and pet behavior programs.
As a not-for-profit organization, the Humane Society of Missouri provides our services and programs to the community without local, state, or federal tax support, nor United Way funding. We rely on financial donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. The animals send their thanks for your support.
