Garrett Animal Shelter is a city run shelter that deals only with dogs and cats. Unfortunately, we are not a no kill shelter; our animals will be available for adoption for 3 weeks. Most of the animals we get are strays, so we don't know a whole lot about them other than what we learn while interacting with them here. We only accept animals from inside the city limits but often have a list of animals needing homes from the county. Please feel free to call or e-mail us about a specific pet you are looking for if none are listed here.
Adopting a friend
The adoption fee for dogs are $77.00 for males and $87.00 for females that includes the $12.00 adoption fee PLUS the cost of sterilization. That also includes at least one vaccination with Vanguard (parvo/distemper vac.) for dogs. Cat adoption fees are $52.00 for males and $74.50-$82.00 for females that includes the $12.00 adoption fee PLUS the cost of sterilization and one vaccination of felomune for cats and at least one deworming for both dogs & cats. The adopter is required to get any follow up vaccines needed, rabies vaccine & to have them heartworm tested or feline leukemia, & preventative.

We are located in Fulton, Missouri between Jefferson City and Columbia. From Jeff city, take hwy 54; take the first Fulton exit you come to (exit H). At the top of exit turn right. Stay on this road until you come to an intersection; you will be on St. Louis Ave., the cross street will be Bluff St. (AutoZone will be on the left side of road, Little Caesars & Movie Gallery will be on the right side). At this stop light go straight; the road turns into E. 8th St., and we are a little ways up the road on the left hand side.
From Columbia, take hwy I-70 east to the Kingdom City exit (Exit 148). Turn right at the top of exit towards Fulton. Stay on Hwy 54 until you get to the first Fulton exit (about 4 miles); this exits on the left side of the highway. Stay straight on this road until you get to the intersection of Bluff St. & St. Louis Ave. (you will be on Bluff St.; AutoZone will be on the right side of the road, Family Video will be on the left side). At this stoplight make a sharp lefthand turn onto St. Louis Ave. This road turns into E. 8th St., and we are a little ways up the road on the left.
