Who We Are

The City of Warrensburg provides animal control services to Johnson County, six other area cities, and Whiteman Air Force Base. The Animal Shelter houses stray, surrendered, and impounded animals, which are made available for adoption pursuant to state law. Animals must be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Animals not adopted are euthanized.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption fees vary, and range from $10-$45 for dogs and $10 to $35 for cats. All adoption fees cover the charge for the animals first round of vaccinations and an initial de-wormer which they receive at the shelter. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to entering thier new home and are microchipped with a HomeAgain microchip. Our shelter feeds Science Diet pet food and send adopter's home with a sample bag of food as well.
