MPR IS FULL!

We can only help you place a dog in need if you are willing to "foster" the dog until a home is found. The dog must be spayed or neutered. If you found a Pit Bull and need help, please CLICK HERE.

MPR is a small network of local foster homes. We rescue most of our dogs from local shelters, some of which have a non-adoption policy on the breed. In these cases, Pit Bull type dogs are only released to "licensed" rescue groups. MPR is often a Pit Bulls' only chance to make it out of the shelter alive. We bail out our dogs as we have room available. Since we can't keep up with the amount of Pit Bulls that need help at the shelters, we are unable to take owners' surrenders.

Punish the Deed, not the Breed

Although the main concern of MPR is to help Pit Bulls find a good home, we are also dedicated to improve the reputation of the breed. The last thing we want is to see a bad dog fall in the wrong hands. The dogs we rescue are carefully selected for their great temperament and sound disposition. We also do extensive screening on the potential homes to make sure our dogs are placed with caring and responsible owners.

MPR acknowledges that while a Pit Bull is an outstanding pet, it does have some particular needs. In general, Pit Bull type dogs make excellent companions, but like any other breed, it is possible that they carry undesirable traits such as human aggression, shyness, instability, etc., due to poor breeding or previous irresponsible/abusive ownership. These animals should NOT be made available for adoption unless they have successfully completed a strict rehabilitation program. Animal-aggression however, is a common trait in all Terriers. Pit Bull dogs in particular, are not good candidates to live in a home with other pets unless the owner has a very good understanding of the breed.
