Lil' H is a hatchling that was surrendered in January. We have no prior history, but it is a good guess that he/she was an unwanted Holiday gift. We won't know if Lil' H is a male or female for several years. Iguanas do not show any secondary sexual characteristics until they have reached 9-12 inches snout to vent when they enter their first breeding season. Lil' H is a typical hatchling, nervous and ready to run away. It can take a long time to gain the trust of a hatchling. If you are willing to be patient and want to raise an iguana from a baby, then consider Lil' H.
News
RICA has teamed up with Petco in Maplewood, Minnesota! We have an adoption center there where you can see one of our adoptable iguanas. Big Guy will be arriving at Petco soon! Big Guy is a senior male who is simply adorable! He should be at Petco by this weekend, October 3, 2009.
Who We Are
RICA is dedicated to the proper care and husbandry of the captive green iguana. We provide adoption and re-homing services by matching up the right home with the right iguana.
Adopting a friend
Always research the needs and care requirements of the animal you wish to adopt. You can find lots of up-to-date information on the proper husbandry of the green iguana at our website, www.iguanaresource.org
Especially read the FAQ's and F-E-L-T-S of iguana care. If you are sure you want to adopt an iguana, our adoption process starts by discussing diet and housing needs among other things. Your enclosure must already in place and it must be in "move-in" condition. We are located in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. We will, under certain situations, ship an iguana. We use Delta Dash and you must be able to pick up your adopted iguana at the airport. Please email for more information.
