THE DOG RESCUERS

(This poem is dedicated to Kendall and his lovely wife and all who work with Rescued Paws.)

-----------------------------

Inspired by uncaring people,

They rescue the helpless, one by one.

The "Dog Rescuers" provide

A sanctuary to restore the dignity

Some inhumane human took away.

-----------------------------

Cramped cages and city backstreets

Are replaced by roam-free farmland.

Instead of buildings and gutters,

Cows and creeks now decorate

Their spacious, new domain.

-----------------------------

Blessed~these dogs, blest by these rescuers.

God smiles on their compassion

As they follow His commands.

"Whatsoever you do to the least..."

"Be kind to My creatures, both man and beast."

-----------------------------

---With gratitude for everything you have done for both of our sons, and for us as parents, ~~Vickie Saviano - mom of Sam and Marc--May 25, 2009

Foster Homes Needed!...

We are in urgent need of foster homes for rottweilers. Must have bully breed experience. There are many rottweilers getting put down at animal control facilities due to their breed. We are trying to help as many as we can, and with your help we can do that! Since we are not a shelter, we depend on fosters to help us save dogs in need. If you have a large heart, a lot of patience and a welcoming home for dogs in need, give us a call! Potential foster homes undergo a screening process which includes an application, references and a home visit.

Who We Are

Welcome to our website! We are a foster based rescue that takes in neglected, abused and unwanted animals from various animal control facilities and shelters. We are an all volunteer staff whose sole purpose is to protect and care for these animals until suitable homes can be found for them. We work with other like-minded organizations to help in the placement of abandoned animals. We foster animals in our homes until they are adopted. We do not take owner surrenders. We only take animals that are homeless. Most of our dogs come from animal control facilities or shelters where they will be put down due to lack of space, or due to their breed like rottweilers.

Adopting a friend

Note to Adopters We are very careful in the placement of our rescue animals. We become very attached to them in our rescue efforts and with them staying in our homes. We get them on the road to good health and sometimes spend a small fortune in vet care. Please keep in mind that many of these wonderful beings have had rough lives and have been abandoned, neglected, starved or beaten by their previous owners through no fault of their own. They have a lot of love to give and ask that you be patient with them as they adjust to their new surroundings. They will repay you with unlimited love and affection. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered before placement. Adoption fees shall not be considered purchase prices, but donations to help defray vet costs and related expenses to help us continue our rescue efforts.

If you are considering adopting a dog, remember it is a long term commitment and these wonderful beings are not disposable. You will need to fill out an adoption application and a home visit may be required, depending on the animal or the distance. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the animal of your choice. If you have a current dog, you should bring him/her along to meet the new dog so we can see how everyone interacts.

BECAUSE WE ONLY ADOPT INTO STABLE AND PERMANENT HOMES, WE DO NOT ADOPT OUT TO PEOPLE AGE 21 OR YOUNGER, OR THOSE STILL IN COLLEGE, UNLESS THEY ARE HOMEOWNERS.

Did you know?

- That our expenses are 4 times greater than our intake of adoption fees.

- The average dog costs $275 in vet bills. That is for the vet exam, spaying/neutering, vaccinating and microchipping.

- Many dogs cost more due to dental surgeries, eye surgeries, heartworm treatment, and other treatments requiring antibiotics.

- Because we mostly give sanctuary to seniors, we spend over $250 a month just on arthritis pain medications.

- Some dogs are on special dietary dog foods costing almost $50 per 40lb. bag, and big dogs have big appetites!!

- Some dogs are not adopted out due to age or illness and live out their lives here.

If you would like to contribute so we can continue our efforts to save dogs and adopt them into loving homes, or give them sanctuary, please click on the "Donate" button below. We thank you! And the dogs thank you!!

"Courtesy Listing" animals are not in our Rescue program and have not been evaluated by Rescued Paws volunteers. They are listed as a courtesy to someone in need of re-homing an animal. Rescued Paws makes no representations and expressly disclaims any and all liability as to the temperament, health, or other trait of Courtesy Listing animals and will only relay their contact information to you. Courtesy Listings are private adoptions processed through current owners, shelters, etc., although Rescued Paws will often assist in the process.
