Bring your Furry Friends to meet Santa and pose for a holiday photo!
You are invited to join us on Saturday, December 5th, at the Minneapolis Petsmart for a fabulous photo shoot! Photos will be taken from 11:00-4:00, and each pet parent will receive their photo in a holiday collector frame.
Santa will be ready to hear their "wish lists" (even if they have been a little naughty)!
Big black dogs. Feline Leuk. + cats. Senior pets. Special-needs pets. To help these and other often-overlooked pets find homes click on our "Adoptable Pet List" above and read their special stories
Be a hero and "Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable!"
Here are some reasons to open your heart and home to a "less-adoptable":
Older pets are mellower — you don't have to worry about your lamp getting knocked over!
Physically challenged pets are often unaffected by their handicap — but you still look like a hero!
"Bad reputation" breeds — you get the chance to prove people wrong with your great dog!
Dark-furred pets make it easy to accessorize — black goes with everything!
Pets with behavioral issues allow you to form a tight bond as you overcome obstacles together!
Big dogs are easier to find when it is time to go to the vet!
And help us spread the word: Some pets are "less adoptable," but they're just as lovable! And check out our "special" animals on our Adoptable Pet List - they are all well worth a second look!
Our Featured Pet...
Hello - my name is Max, and I am a SUPER SWEET Birman/Burmese mix boy looking for my special home. I am very shy so I would like to move into a quiet home, and I am declawed in the front. I have a very mild case of something called "Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease" which means all I need to stay healthy is to eat a special diet, and ever since I have been on this diet I have been perfectly healthy! If you can give me a loving home please contact Rescued Tails - PURRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! You can see my picture if you click above on "Our Adoptable Pet List" and look for my name, Max. I am even more handsome in person!
Who We Are
Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing, caring for and placing homeless animals.
We promote positive people / animal relationships through our adoption and educational programs advocating humane treatment of all animals, including the importance of spaying and neutering.
Some of the animals that come to Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary are older, sick or have suffered from severe neglect or cruelty. We value the life of each companion animal and provide a permanent safe haven for animals as needed. At the sanctuary we work to rehabilitate companion animals that need additional training and time and then attempt to place them in appropriate homes. If we should ever place an animal that is not succeeding in a home environment then we will gladly take them into our hearts and care for them here at the sanctuary. Our sanctuary is located in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and most of our foster homes are located in the Twin Cities Metro area of Minnesota.
Looking for a meaningful and lasting gift for a Pet Lover? Donate a Kuranda pet bed to one of our furry friends in the name of a friend or family member. A personalized Gift Card will be mailed to them to inform them of the wonderful gift you have selected for them. Donate a Kuranda dog bed.
Our feline friends have seen the dogs snoring away in comfort on their wonderful Kuranda beds, and now they want some of their own! If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a cat to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda cat bed.
We use Kuranda beds because they are so good for the animals - they offer great support for our senior dogs, they are durable, easy to sanitize and the animals love them! If you would like to donate a bed so another furry friend can snore away in comfort, please

Thank you to everyone who has donated beds - you have made some dogs very happy and comfy!

News
Thanks from a generous gift from Lynn and Dean Nybakke our Cat Building now has heat to keep our felines toasty warm during chilly temps. The building includes a 30 ft. X 20 ft. outside enclosure so our feline friends can enjoy the great outdoors while still being safe and secure! Our kitties can go in and out as they wish, through their little kitty doors, and run and play all day.
We also have three, 60 ft. X 60 ft. grassy play yards for our canine buddies to romp and roll in and chase their favorite toy. Our dog building has six doggie apartments (the walls are even made from 100% recycled material!) . Each apartment is furnished with rugs, a soft bed, a doggie door to an outside yard and of course - toys!!
A huge THANK YOU to the Lawson Family Fund and to John and Jill Hall for helping to make all this possible. And thank you to everyone who has helped and given us support in so many ways - we are truly grateful. If you would like to be part of this exciting endeavor, all donations are tax deductible under IRS Code Sec. 501 (c)(3). Please call or e-mail us, or you can simply mail in a donation to:

An Easy Way To Help!
Just one extra click can support Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary!
What if Rescued Tails earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our cause? Well, now it can!
GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!
It doesn't cost you a thing — the money they donate comes from the advertisers!
Just 500 of us, searching four times a day, will raise about $7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! Just think how many animals could be saved with even a fraction of this money!
GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which will donate up to 37 percent of each purchase to Rescued Tails! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you can support Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary. The next time you buy a new pair of shoes, book, computer, birthday present, flowers, plane ticket or just about anything else, go to GoodShop.com and then click over to your favorite store.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com or www.goodshop.com and be sure to enter Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary as the charity you want to support. And, be sure to spread the word!

Adopting a friend
Welcoming a pet into your home is a commitment of time, patience, money and love. You should think very carefully and do your research before adopting any animal. Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary spays / neuters all companion animals before adoption. All animals are vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested (dogs), feline leukemia tested and microchipped.
If you find an animal that you are interested in on our web site please call, or e-mail us, and we will gladly tell you more about that special animal.
Our experienced volunteers will help you select a companion animal that will fit your personality and lifestyle. We want you to experience a rewarding, lifetime relationship with your new companion. If you find a furry friend you wish to adopt you will fill out an adoption application and then a home visit will be set up. At the time of adoption you will fill out an adoption contract and pay the adoption donation.
Foster Homes Needed!!
If you are not able to adopt an animal at this time, but would like to help animals, we have many opportunities for you. We are always in need of FOSTER HOMES. Our wonderful foster home volunteers enable us to literally save the lives of more animals - without our foster homes most of these animals would not be alive. It is a very rewarding experience to take in, and care for, a frightened abandoned animal and watch that animal grow in confidence and blossom into a wonderful companion pet. Please let us know if you would be willing to help save the life of a homeless animal by taking the animal into your home and heart and providing much needed foster care - we would be more than happy to tell you more - just give us a call or e-mail.
Sponsor A Special Friend
We also need caring individuals to help sponsor our animals. The financial cost to care for our animals is growing every day, and we need your support. If you find a furry friend on our web site that you would like to sponsor just let us know. All of our generous sponsors receive a color photo and information about their chosen animal.
We also have other volunteer opportunities. If you would like to find out more simply e-mail us or give us a call. On behalf of all the animals - a big THANK YOU for your generous support!
Come Visit Us!

Our sanctuary is located in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and most of our foster homes are located in the Twin Cities Metro area of Minnesota.
Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary will, at times, help someone in need of re-homing an animal. We will list that animal on our web site as a "Courtesy Listing". These animals are not in our rescue program and have not been evaluated by us. Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary makes no representations and expressly disclaims any and all liability as to the temperament, health, or other characteristic of Courtesy Listing animals. Courtesy Listings are private adoptions processed through current owners. We will often assist in the process.
