Who We Are

The Waseca County Animal Humane Society is a group of people who work to be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. We maintain good working relationships with the community, local veterinarians as well as law enforcement to help enhance our abilities to meet the needs of the animals of Waseca County. We came together with a common interest in doing what is best for the animals and to help curb euthanasia in our county. We strive to find the best possible homes for the animals, and when we are unable to do so, we are in contact with numerous area rescue groups and shelters via the Rescue Animal Coalition of SE Minnesota. Please feel free to contact us at WCAHS@hotmail.com for more information!

Our Featured Pet.....

Photobucket
~*~Mystic~*~
Mystic is a spunky adult lab crossed with we believe a border collie, but that is not for certain. She is your typical happy go lucky mutt! She ADORES playing fetch with lots of different toys. She craves attention from her people and loves to snuggle. She appears much bigger in her pictures than she actually is. She is around 45 lbs (about the size of your typical springer spaniel, maybe a tad smaller) Please email WCAHS@hotmail.com for more info on how to meet Mystic!!

Turning in a Pet or Stray

If you find a stray and are able to keep it with you, you are welcome to do so. However, we ask that you contact us, local law enforcement (Waseca is 507-835-0500) and local veterinarians(Waseca Veterinary Clinic 507-835-1700, Premier Vet Clinic 507-835-7100, Summers Ridge Vet Clinic in Janesville 507-234-6929) to ensure that they are aware of where the animal is in the event that the pets owner is looking for them. We can only take in strays as we have foster homes open for them. When we do have space available, we need a picture and description of the animal to distribute to our potential foster homes. We ask that all owner turn ins are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, free from pests such as fleas, etc, and tested negative for heartworm (dogs) and Feline leukemia/FIV (cats). We do this because we do not have a physical shelter that allows for a quarantine area. The animals in our care reside in the homes of our volunteers, so we ask this in an effort to prevent the spread of diseases amongst the pets of our foster homes. Please email WCAHS@hotmail.com if you need information on turning in a pet. We are able to take cats, dogs, birds, farm animals, and possibly reptiles at varying times based on foster home availability.
