Who We Are
The Humane Society of the Lakes has been serving homeless animals for 18 years. We now have a new 50+ bed animal shelter located just 2.5 miles north of Detroit Lakes, MN. Our mission is to find loving "forever" homes to our homeless pets and to help educate the public on animal care, safety and the critical importance of spay/neutering all pets.
Adopting a friend
Our adoption policy requires you to own your own home, animals must all be spayed, or neutered by six months of age if not already done at time of adoption. Adoption fee is $120.00 for dogs and $90.00 for cats, both include vaccinations and spay/neutering - if done before the animal leaves our care. If an animal leaves our care before it can be spay/neutered, then a $30.00 refund will be given once proof of spay/neutering has been completed. We also have a seven day return policy if adoption does not work out for either the animal or the adopter.
