We are currently seeking donations for the increased cost of spaying & neutering of our animals. We have a personalized tagging machine, it takes about 5 minutes and we have a variety of tags to choose from. You are able to take the tag home w/ you the same day. The price is $7.00 for one side or $10.00 for 2 sides. Volunteers are needed at the shelter. We have a volunteer form you must fill out & then you need to attend a volunteer orientation before you volunteer here at our facility, its about an hour long. We have a wide variety of tasks that we need volunteers for. You can call, email or stop in for more information! Thank you.
Who We Are
The Humane Society of Goodhue county is a private, non-profit organization established September 15, 1983. A hand full of dedicated volunteers saw the need for a Humane Society and took it upon themselves to help the stray, abandon, sick and homeless animals in the area.
In the Spring of 1990 we began building our current shelter at 1213 Brick Ave. in Red Wing. February of 1991 we welcomed the first animals into the shelter, no longer relying solely on foster homes. Soon there after it became apparent that a larger facility would be needed to meet all of our needs.
In the summer of 2002 we began our building addition. Currently we are able to house 100 animals, counting litters of puppies and kittens. Our facility now has 17 indoor/outdoor kennels for adoption dogs. The kennel has heated cement floors and air conditioning for those hot summer months. Our cat room is not yet completed. Because of the poor economical times being felt exceptionally hard at our shelter, we are unable to complete the larger new cat room.
Our retail area has expanded with the addition. We carry some Sensible Choice & Purina.
The addition allowed us enough room to add Boarding and Grooming to the shelter. Come down and see our facility. We believe you will be impressed with the cleaniness and professionalism of both the Boarding and Grooming departments.
Boarding is $14.50/day if their is one dog in each kennel or $28.00/day for two dogs in a kennel together.
Cat boarding is $12.00/day.
Adopting a friend
The Humane Society of Goodhue County adoption proceeders consists of the following:1) Adoptee must be 18 years of age or older and have a photo id.
2) Must complete an adoption application and be approved.
3) Must read, initial, and agree with all of our adoption procedures and policies.
4) Must agree to have the animal spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption or whenever the animal is of age if they are not already.
5) A spay or neuter appointment is made at the time of adoption, NO exceptions.
6) Must have landlords approval before adopting an animal.
7) All animals are current with their vaccinations, free collar and tag and free goody bag. We also offer 10% off of our retail supplies at the time of adoption.
8) An adoption donation is required.

The Humane Society of Goodhue County is located at 1213 Brick Ave Red Wing, MN. Hwy 61 runs directly through the city of Red Wing. Approximately one mile north of the downtown district will be Withers Harbor Drive. Withers Harbor will loop around at that time take a left onto Tile Dr. Take Tile Dr. approxiately 1/2 mile to Brick Ave. Take a right onto Brick Ave. We are at the end of Brick on the left hand side.Humane Society of Goodhue County
