Who We Are

MVHS serves the animals and people of Dakota and Scott Counties, just south of the Minneapolis-St Paul metropolitan area in Minnesota.

We are funded (50%) by adoption, surrender, and impounding fees , as well as (50%) by contributions and fundraising activities, and grants (when we can get them). We are NOT government supported, and we do NOT receive funds or support from any other humane organization. We are a private non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. (Donations are tax-deductible.)

Volunteering

We operate with a small paid staff and over 150 volunteers, including our Board of Directors. MVHS was founded by volunteers in 1991.

Come Visit Us!

The MVHS is located in Burnsville, just south of the Minnesota River, on Highway 13 near the intersection of Parkwood Avenue, between Interstate Highway 35W and Cliff Road (Dakota County 32). (Turn at the Parkwood stop light and follow the frontage road past the Dairy Queen.)
