From time to time, the HSLC offers reduced prices on adoption fees in order to encourage the adoption of homeless animals. Please contact the shelter to find out if any promos are going on now!

Kittens, puppies, adult dogs and cats as well as senior animals can be adopted (with an approved application) for a reduced rate!
The same great services still apply only the price is cut back!

The HSLC is pleased to be a part of Comcast's "Pets on Demand". If you have digital Comcast cable, you can see a variety of canine and felines available for adoption at the HSLC shelter!

Similar to an “Amber Alert” this resource will send out a Lost Pet Alert in a fifty mile radius from where the pet went missing. Some of the organizations and individuals that will be notified are Shelters, Rescue Groups, Veterinarians, Boarding Kennels, Groomers, Pet Retail Stores, and most importantly people just like YOU!!

We have many companion pets available for adoption at our shelter that can be seen during the hours of: Mondays 12:00pm - 8:00pm, and Wednesday-Sunday 12:00pm - 5:00pm. We are closed on Tuesdays

All animals adopted from the Humane Society of Livingston County are spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter.
All animals are micro-chipped, wormed for intestinal parasites, have age-appropriate vaccines, and receive an identifucation tag and collar.
Dogs 6 months and older are heartworm tested and all felines are tested for feline leukemia and FIV.
All dogs, regardless of age, receive heartworm preventative once monthly.
**All adoptions also include a free bag of Science Diet specially formulated for the animal you are adopting!**
"Special needs" animals also need homes from time-to-time. Some instances of a "special needs" animal are those animals requiring lifelong medications, those with special food requirements or those with a medical condition which may shorten their life. Reduced adoption fees apply to these animals in an effort to offset the cost of care for the adopter. Fees are based on the specifc need and/or age of each pet in each instance.
These reduced adoption fees includes all of the services stated above.
If you are coming from the east on I-96, get off at the Grand River exit in Brighton. Go west (right) on Grand River to Dorr Rd.(3.1 miles) Dorr Rd only goes south (left). We will be on your right side after Amerigas.(.6 miles) If you cross over the expressway, you've gone past us.
If coming from the west on I-96, get off at the D19 exit. Go left. You will take this to Grand River. Go right on Grand River. You will go east on Grand River to Dorr Rd. Turn right on Dorr Rd. We are .6 mile on your right.
