In January 2012 we added our first dog to the rescue. She appears to have been a breeding puppy mill dog who spend her first 9yrs (age is estimated) in a cage. She was left at an animal control in a taped up box during the night. She is missing all her teeth but didn't seem to know what soft food was. She cowered every time one of us here would go to pick her up. NOW she loves her canned food, is learning to be housebroke, loves to be picked up, and thinks the bed is part hers.
October 5th and 6th, 2012, we will be in Millington at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. They are having a fall festival with fish fries, wagon rides, pumpkin painting, food and craft booths, etc.. They kindly offered us a spot, thanks to a very caring ladies inquiry, to introduce some of the animals, so come on out and see us there from 9am-5pm.
Adoption fees range from $30-$175. There is an adoption request form to fill out when your special cat/kitten or dog/puppy is found and sometimes they can leave with u right away, while other times it may be a couple of days (an adoption contract must be signed to finalize the adoption). We do home visits and check references and landlords.
We began by fostering for another rescue. That rescue decided to quit providing for their fosters and wouldn't take them back after most became adults. Because of this, Leggo's Animal Haven was formed. Everyone who finds their forever home leaves spay/neutered and with their rabies shot. Here at Leggo's is also some special needs cats, some displaced feral cats, and one former puppy mill breeder that have found their forever home with us. You can see some of these and some of our special cases that have come in our doors on our facebook page.
We try to be open as much as possible during the morning weekdays and on weekends. Call 989-882-5612 for a time to come by or e-mail us @ firstname.lastname@example.org (we check the e-mail twice a week).
