The dogs enjoy a nice walk and it's great exercise. We have treats that can be given out or you may bring your own to give to the dogs. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us. The Spay/Neuter Express will be making a stop at Ionia County Animal Shelter every Friday. They offer low cost spay/neuter as well as vaccinations, microchipping and much more. We are the shelter for Montcalm County. Many of the animals that come through our doors are the animals that need your help the most..... We often don't know much about the animals that come into the shelter. We gather all the info that is available and add more once we learn about the animal's personality. You can visit the shelter and walk the dogs and interact with them during our regular business hours. All the animal's that will be available for adoption are updated on all vaccines, and also administered a de-wormer and flea prevention as well as spayed or neutered before going home. Disclaimer: Most of our animals are strays, and even though we do our best to learn what we can about them in the short tme they are here we cannot guarantee the health or temperment of any animal.
We are always accepting donations, some of the items we are in need of are: Rawhide chews, Dog treats, Leashes and collars, Laundry Soap and Bleach, litter boxes, bowls and dishes (metal only please). Each one of these donated items makes a difference in an animal's life!!
Our hours are from 3:00pm - 6:00pm Monday AND Friday. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Noon until 6:00pm. Adoptions start 15 minutes after we open and end 15 min before we close.
