SASHA Farm Animal Sanctuary
Our Featured Pet...
News
SASHA Farm is working on a Cat Foster Program. To better assess that adoptability of some of our resident felines and to give them a chance to get some one-on-one time in a home setting, we're setting up a program to allow them to go to foster homes on a temporary basis. Some cats just don't show their true personalities in a multi-cat environment, and getting feedback from foster parents will help us place them in the right homes.
This might be a good thing if you've been thinking about a cat and you're just not sure, or if you have a hard time committing to an animal without 'test driving' him or her first. Stay tuned for details, or contact us if you're really interested right now!
We're also looking for cat loving volunteers to help with the cat barn housekeeping on Saturdays, plus Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings. Interested? Email amanda at sashafarm dot org for details!
Who We Are
SASHA Farm is the midwest's largest farm animal sanctuary. At our shelter, not only do we provide food and water, veterinary care and a roof over their heads, we also give the animal residents lots of love, social interaction with others of their own species, and a sense of security.
Rescuing and protecting animals has been an important mission for us for many years, but our sanctuary just became a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 2002. Our rescue operation is run entirely by a board of volunteers, so any donations you make go directly to the animals.
Most of our animals will remain in sanctuary at SASHA Farm for their entire lives, but a select few, particularly cats, are so suited to homes of their own that we've decided to offer them for adoption. They'll always be safe here, but when the right home comes along, they'll be ready and waiting.
Adopting a friend
After contacting us with your interest in adopting an animal, we'll send you an adoption application to fill out and schedule an appointment for you to come meet your potential friend. If you decide to continue with the adoption, you'll fill out a contract (just the basics) and pay an adoption fee of $50 for cats, $100 or less for dogs, depending on their medical needs when they arrived.
SASHA Farm does not adopt cats to homes who will declaw them, but we do have a few previously declawed cats available.
If the placement doesn't work out for any reason at all, the animal may (no--must!) be returned to SASHA Farm!
