~Last Day Dog Rescue~
Shelter Dogs with a Second Chance
Thank You for all your support while we are in URGENT NEED
LAST DAY is more than just a name, it's the situation all our dogs were faced
with.
Now these wonderful dogs get another chance at life. All dogs coming into our
rescue were
saved from high-kill animal shelters or from being sold for research.
We are a NON-PROFIT 501(c)(3) tax-exempt rescue organization and a NO-KILL
dog rescue.
Last Day Dog Rescue is in URGENT need of
help. We have had 4 dogs end up in Emergency Room Care, a neglect case, a
heartworm positive case and our food donations have been put on hold. Our
current vet bills are over 10K from these 6 dogs. This does not include
the care of our dogs already in foster care. We are now paying for food,
monthly heartguard and frontline on all our pets. Plus any other needs the
pet may have. If we keep up at this rate, we will not be able to pull any
more dogs until next year and we even face having to stop rescuing. All
our dogs come from high kill shelters or from being sold to research. We
have saved over 600 dogs in around 2 years. Please help us by seeing our
FirstGiving page or by
sending donations to:

A HUGE thank you to all those that have come forward during our time of urgent need! Your support at our fund-raising events and donations through Firtsgiving and PayPal have raised over $3,000. Those funds along with sponsorship for our recent incoming dogs have allowed Last Day Dog Rescue to continue doing what we do best; giving shelter dogs a second chance. We are not where we need to be financially but we are certainly on our way. Thanks again!!
Come visit us Sunday Oct 12, 12-3pm at PetSmart by Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. across from Meijer, next to Target. 2865 Oak Valley Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48103
Last Day Dog Rescue does not have a physical location. All our dogs are placed in foster homes until they are adopted. Last Day Dog Rescue is a volunteer based group.
Our Group focuses on rescuing dogs from the "Urgent" list in Shelters and pounds across lower Michigan and Parts of Ohio with an emphasis on those shelters who euthanize by gas and those shelters who sell the dogs in their care to research labs where they are used for barbaric and most times painful testing and experimentations. We hold a special place in our hearts for the big and black dogs, even ‘ugly’ dogs (who we don't find ugly at all!) and the special senior dogs. These dogs most often get overlooked and passed up in shelters and pounds everywhere for puppies, small breeds and the ‘prettier’, lighter colored dogs.
Dogs found in shelters are there for many reasons: owner surrenders, strays, cruelty/abuse cases and dogs found abandoned, left to fend for themselves in vacant homes, fields, ditches and even being tied out in the woods left to starve. Last Day Dog Rescue does not discriminate and feels that each of these dogs, no matter their size, age, color or the reason they are there, deserve a second chance at life...we help all those we can.

Meet Brody. Brody came to us by a call from a local Police Department. Brody was found in a house tied up. You see his owners moved out of town and left him there with no food and water. The polices were able to reach his owners in which they signed off on him and said they were not coming to get him. Maybe his family didn't see what a great dog he is, but the police did, who called on us to rescue. He is about 1.5 years old and right now is 20 lbs under weight. He is a pure breed Lab. When we brought him to the vet the vet could not even give him his shots, as he was way to thin. Please think about making a donation to help Brody.

Meet Autum. Autum came to us from a high kill shelter and after in our care we realized she was pregnant. Autum went into labor and started to deliver. We had to rush her to the emergency vet as she had a puppy stuck and we had to get her a C section. If we would have waited any longer she may not have made it. We were told she was over bred. Please think about making a donation to help Autum.

Meet Truman. Truman came to us from a high kill animal shelter. The shelter said he seemed like a family dog and instead of putting him down, they asked rescues to take him. So he ended up with Last Day Dog Rescue and boy are we lucky. However Truman when into a seizure. We had to take him to the Emergency Vet. The vet thinks is not anything major but needs to monitor to ensure. Please think about making a donation to help Truman.

Meet Webster. Webster came to us from a High Kill Shelter. Once in our care we found out Webster is heartworm positive. He will be starting on treatment, in which is very expensive to clear up this problem. Please think about making a donation to help Webster.

Meet River and Phoenix. They came to us from a shelter that sells to research. Once in our care that developed Parvo and pneumonia. They were in and out of Emergency Rooms and River was on breathing machines. They didn't even think this little guy was going to make it. They have since found their way to their forever homes but the bills on just these two were over 6K.
