Our Featured Pet...

Tess is a wonderful cat but she has been at the shelter since the fall of 2011. She doesn't like other cats or dogs so we haven't been able to place her in a foster home. If you are looking for a one and only cat, Tess is your girl.

Isabella is all warm in cozy in her new sweater that mom made for her.

Volunteers Are Needed You Can Be a "HERO" too!

It all began with Hero, the Chow Chow with a broken leg. With donations from generous people like you, Hero was able to have surgery on his leg, obtain physical therapy and, find a new loving home. Now it's time to help Tiny Tina.

Tina is a miniture poodle who was left in a cardboard box in the rain and cold in the Kmart parking lot. Tina is 15 years old and has several medical problems. Her vet bills are already over $500.00. Even with everything she has gone through she still loves life.

The City of Madison Heights Animal Control officer and the volunteers at the shelter would like to thank Guardians for Animals for all of their help and support caring for the animals at the shelter. GFA has provided generous financial support to save the life of Cricket, a 6 month old chihuahua mix who came in with a broken leg. As well as providing the funds to give the animals shots, spays and neuters so that they could be shown at Pet-A-Palooza, which got 2 dogs and 3 cats into wonderful homes. Without this organization, none of this would be possible.

To be a Hero to Tiny Tina, Cricket or the next shelter animal, a tax donation can be made to:

"Who We Are"

The City of Madison Heights Animal Shelter is a municipal facility run by the City's Animal Control Officer, Suzette Gysel. The animals that come into the shelter are either strays, abandoned, seized from owners for improper care, or surrendered by the owner. It is a NO KILL shelter that works hard to find the animals new forever homes.

The City of Madison Heights does not do direct adoptions. The adoption process is handled through several rescue organizations that work closely with the city to find the right homes for the animals. If you are interested in adopting one of the animals call the shelter at 248-837-2745
