Who We Are
Barkaritaville has been helping rescue in Mid-Tennessee since Spring of ‘05. We have joined forces and opened a rescue in Michigan. We recognize that there are animals in need all over the country. We’d help them all if we could. We want to focus our limited resources in the areas where we thought we could make the greatest impact. Many shelters in the South are overcrowded and wonderful pets are being euthanized every day. We are in constant need of volunteers to foster, help with community events, adoption days, home visits, transports, etc.
We are an all breed rescue with most of our smaller dogs in foster homes in the North and most of our larger breed dogs in foster homes in the South. Be sure to check both sites when looking for your new best friend. Our adoption fees range from $150 to $200 depending on the dog. Our adoption fees include all necessary vetting (vaccines, spay or neuter, Health Certificate), 24 PetWatch microchip where applicable and our rescue pays for the first month of a Shelter Care pet health insurance policy. If you wish to adopt one of our dogs still in the South, there is a $100 deposit. The reason for this is that we pull these dogs from the shelter with the expectation that they will be adopted. Should you change your mind after we pull the dog for you, then we have a dog that will need an emergency foster home or boarding which puts strain on our resources. The deposit is not an additional fee as it goes towards your adoption fee. If you are adopting a dog already in the North, you just pay the adoption fee in full once you are approved and meet the dog. AS OF DEC/JAN WE ARE TRANSPORTING OUR ADOPTED DOGS ONCE A MONTH.
