Midwest Schipperke Rescue is a proud partner with Rally to Rescue, a Purina company sponsored venue that is dedicated to offering qualifying rescue organizations various ways to raise money to help rescue animals. With the economy causing serious issues, families losing homes and elderly folk having to go into homes where pets are not allowed, all rescue groups are overwhelmed with older dogs. While they are all doing well in their foster homes, having their won loving home would be the best thing for them. Senior dogs are just so easy to live with. They don't chew household items, they don't need more than a short walk or a small fenced area to exercise in, and they don't need constant supervision. They do insist on being cared for, which is so important as it gives their people a reason to enjoy life. To find out more about their program visit them at www.rallytorescue.com
Midwest Schipperke Rescue participates annually in the "Celebrate Birmingham" parade. We have a lot of fun walking through town with our dogs. And the dogs seem to really enjoy the walk as well. It is a time to get reaquainted with some of the dogs from our rescue program that have stayed in the area. This parade takes place every year and we are excited about doing it again next year. Our theme is always "Schipperke Strut - 25% Style - 75% Attitude". Please feel free to join us for a fun day. if you are in the Birmingham area in early May. If you want to make donations, they are tax deductible. Make checks out to Midwest Schipperke Rescue and mail to Sandy King, 6708 92nd. Ave W., Taylor Ridge, IL., 61284. Thanks.
Midwest Schipperke Rescue was formed in 2005 when members of three regional clubs decided we were duplicating efforts in rescue work. We realized that by combining our talents we would be more successfull in our mission to rescue as many unwanted Schipperkes as possible, depending on foster homes and available space. We are a foster home based rescue, and as such are able to cover a much wider area than if we were a typical shelter based rescue. As a foster based rescue, of course, foster homes are always needed to help take in and care for the many dogs we are asked to take in. Applications for foster homes are greatly appreciated. Please contact Mary at shadowskip@aol.com for paperwork. Unfortunately, with some of our members in close proximity to the puppy mill states - Missouri and Arkansas - rescue in the Midwest is constantly deluged with unwanted Schips. It was felt that by concentrating efforts close to home, more Schipperkes needing rescue and re-homing could be helped. We try to concentrate our efforts to help dogs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. We do have a large network around the country and are thus able to help dogs from outside of our working area Midwest Schipperke Rescue was established in 2005 and is now a Non-Profit organization registered with the State of Michigan. Midwest Schipperke Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization. As such, any donations are tax dedutable.

We are participating in an adoption/meet the breed event September 18 th and 19th in Madison Heights, Michigan. We do meet & greets as a lot of Schipperkes just cannot handle a lot of strangers petting them all day. Follow the link to the poster for the event. www.guardiansforanimalspetexpo.org Donations are greatly accepted. Mail checks made out to Midwest Schipperke Rescue to Sandy King, 6708 92nd Ave W., Taylor Ridge, IL 61284
Donations greatfully accepted. We held our quilt raffle on July 4th. The winner is Dolores from Fline, MI.
Adopting a Schipperke from Midwest Schipperke Rescue is fairly easy. You will be asked to fill out an application for adoption. Once that is in the files, our volunteers try to match the adopting family with the perfect dog for your lifestyle. All dogs are up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested (treated if necessary), microchipped and spayed/neutered. All dogs are kept in foster homes for a minimum of two weeks so their temperament and personalities can be assessed. Once evaluated they will go up on Petfinder and become available for adoption. Interviews and homechecks are part of the adoption process. A fenced yard is required as a loose Schipperke is a gone Schipperke. Our current adoption fee is $350 to help offset the cost of shelter fees and medical expenses.
We are a volunteer foster home based rescue service. Visits to foster homes must be by appointment only. We always have dogs available in the states we concentrate our efforts in. When you contact the coordinator listed for all of the dogs, you will be directed to the foster home in charge of caring for that individual Schipperke.
