Who We Are

Clare County Animal Shelter takes in animals surrendered by individuals and stray animals found in the county. The shelter makes every effort to find the owners of stray animals and encourages pet owners to keep their pets licensed and tagged. The shelter's mission is to provide the citizens of Clare County a community where the quality of life for man and animal is not negatively affected by the other.

Adopting a friend

Adoption is a simple process of coming to the shelter during normal business hours, picking out an animal that is adoptable, paying the appropriate fees and taking home your new companion. The adoption fee is $15.00. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a refundable $50.00 spay/neuter deposit. Additionally, there is a refundable $10.00 fee for rabies vaccination/ dog license. Call the shelter with any other questions at 989-539-3221. To view our pets, click on our PET LIST link, above, then read each pet's information carefully. We often do not know much about an animal's past. In some cases, the breed of an animal is an educated "guess" using all available resources including the assistance of other breed specialists or breed identification professionals. If you wish to apply to adopt one of our animals, please contact us at: clarecountyanimalshelter@yahoo.com
