The Delta Area Animal Society will hold their monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Delta County Area Chamber of Commerce. New members are always welcome! Any group, or individual, interested in being added to our agenda, please contact Darlene at 906-786-8993 no later than the Tuesday prior to our meeting.
In honor of the National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, we would like to THANK Becky, Trish and Ed for the wonderful job they do at the Delta County Animal Shelter.
November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Unfortunately most senior pets are last to be adopted and first to be euthanized. Most end up in shelters because their owners have passed on or are not financially able to care for them anymore. Adopting a senior pet can actually have more benefits than adopting a puppy or kitten. They do not require the monitoring of a puppy or kitten and they generally settle in much faster. Also, no surprises - what you see is what you get. This is how big they will be, you’ll know their personality and grooming needs. They are also easier to train… yep! you can teach old dog new tricks and it can be lots of fun for the both of you. Stop on down and see all the seniors we have waiting to find their new homes and families.
In coordination with the Adopt a Senior Pet Month, the Delta Area Animal Society has a program, year around, for all seniors and our senior pets at the Delta County Animal Shelter. For anyone 55 and older, you can receive a $10 rebate for adopting a pet 6 years or older! Ask for the form when adopting, fill it out, and send it to us. We will then refund you $10 for opening your home to a senior pet.
