It is entirely too difficult to pick one as our featured pet. Everyone of our animals is so precious to us that we consider each one as featured.

News

We encourage people to VOLUNTEER their time to help with the daily task of keeping our animals in a comfortable pleasant environment. We welcome DONATIONS of CANNED DOG AND CAT FOOD, BLEACH, LAUNDRY SOAP, COLLARS, LEASHES, CAT LITTER, CLEANING SUPPLIES, DOG TREATS AND TOYS are greatly appreciated! Right now, we are esspeically in NEED of Canned DOG OR CAT FOOD. If you have lost a dog or cat recently and have any unused FLEA/TICK applications or Heartworm Preventative instead of throwing away consider donating it to our shelter. It is that season and we try to keep the fleas to a minimum but we only receive those items by your kind donations. Please contact the shelter for additional needed items. Donate a Thundershirt!

Who We Are

We are the Animal Shelter of Ionia County. We take in animals that are abandoned by their owners, found wandering along the road, and shelter them with the utmost compassion by the staff on duty. We present our animals during the hours we are open to be adopted by the public.

Adopting a friend

Any animal that is surrendered by it's owner and is adoptable will be available immediately once it has been updated on it's vaccines including Rabies and has been spayed/neutered.. All strays that come in will be held for 5 days (by state law) then will become available for adoption once it has been updated on it's vaccines including Rabies and been spayed/neutered. An adoption application must be filled out and reviewed.

Puppy Adoption: $125.00 All puppies will be current on age appropriate vaccines, wormed, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.

Dog Adoption: $100.00 All dogs will be current on age appropriate vaccines, heartworm tested, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.

Ionia County Residents will also purchase a 1 yr dog license for $10 which will be added to the adoption fee.

Cat/Kitten Adoption: $50 Cat/Kitten will be vaccinated for RCPC and spayed/neutered prior to adoption

PLEASE NOTE: We can only take personal checks or money orders for any type of payments.

Board and Care fees for Quarantine or Stray Redemption $15 per day

Impound/Redemption fees 1st Offense $20 plus board/care charges

Impound/Redemption fees 2nd Offense $25 plus board/care charges

Impound/Redemption fees 3rd Offense $50 plus board/care charges

Dog License Spayed/Neutered Dog 1 year $10  3 year $25

Dog License not Spayed/Neutered Dog 1 year $25  3 year $75

Licensing Late Fee $25

Kennel License and Inspection 3-10 dogs $50  11-30 dogs $90  31+ Dogs $130.00

Euthanasia Fee: $40.00

Disposal Fee: $20.00

 

 

Come Visit Us!

We are located at exit #67 off the I-96 expressway. Go North on M66 for approximately 3 miles. Turn Right at the flashing yellow light onto David Highway (Right Way Carpet/Portland Credit Union will be on the corners.) Continue for a 1/2 mile, shelter is on the left or North side of road. There will be a road sign says Sparrow Dr and an Ionia County Animal Shelter sign which is blue. EFFECTIVE NOV.1ST 2012 Hours of operation are as follows: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 11 AM - 6PM, Wednesday 11AM-7PM . We are closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday and for all National Holidays.
