The Huron Humane Society, Inc. began in 1980.
The Mission of the Huron Humane Society, Inc., is to provide no-kill solutions to reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs through education, rehabilitation and re-homing.
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing homes for Alpena's homeless and orphaned pets. We work to provide for the medical and social needs of the animals in our care and are a "no-kill" shelter, meaning that we do not euthanize healthy and adoptable pets. We regularly provide medical care for sick and injured strays, and improve animal social skills and behavior, too.

You can contact us by phone at (989) 356-4794

Participating vets include all of the Alpena area veterinarians, Huron Veterinary Clinic in Rogers City and Alcona Animal Clinic in Lincoln. All dogs and puppies receive vaccinations for parvo, kennel cough, distemper, de-worming, vet exam, microchpping, and Sheltercare Pet Health Insurance for 30 days.

The adoption process at the Huron Humane Society begins with filling out an adoption application. If you rent your home we do need proof from your landlord that you are allowed to have pets. Once your application is approved we will complete the adoption process with a few forms and we'll have you on your way to sharing your life with your new best friend! All animals adopted from The Huron Humane Society are altered prior to being adopted out to their furrever-home.
