Huron Humane Society

The Huron Humane Society, Inc. began in 1980.
The Mission of the Huron Humane Society, Inc., is to provide no-kill solutions to reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs through education, rehabilitation and re-homing. P>
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing homes for Alpena's homeless and orphaned pets. We work to provide for the medical and social needs of the animals in our care and are a "no-kill" shelter, meaning that we do not euthanize adoptable pets. We regularly provide extensive medical care for sick and injured strays, and improve animal social skills and behavior, too.

Featured Cat: Miss Hissie

Featured Dog: Chewey

Miss Hessie is a pretty little cat, about 10 months old and small for her age. She's a nice cat who deserves a good home! Chewey is a great, calm, well-behaved dog. He must have had a great family at one time! He's two years old, neutered and looks like a big lab, but with slightly puffier fur. He loves being brushed and fussed over! He's a great retriever, too!

Adoption Fees...CATS $70, Kittens $85

All cats and kittens are Leukemia & FIV tested, wormed and vaccinated (with the exception of rabies and leukemia) upon arrival to the shelter. The Adoption Fee also includes $40 spay/neuter deposit ( or procedure in many cases!), ShelterCare Pet Health Insurance for 30 days, and an exam at your vet. Microchipping is available for a small additional fee.

Adoption Fees...DOGS $100& PUPPIES $135

The adoption fee for dogs/puppies covers vaccinations for Parvo, kennel cough, distemper and worms, a vet exam, spay/neuter deposit coupon for $50 (on pets we haven't yet gotten into surgery), and Sheltercare Pet Health Insurance for 30 days. A discounted grooming at Paul's Pet Services and and a microchip are also included in the adoption fee. All dogs also go home with a bag of science diet dog food, a coupon for $15 off "Dog Manners 101" training class, and puppy adopters can get the Urban Puppy Ultimate Puppy Kit for just $10 at the time of adoption (that's 50% off the regular rate).
