Who We Are

Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter is a County government funded agency serving the mid Michigan area, Ingham County's service area includes Lansing, East Lansing, and it's other adjacent urban communities.

The shelter takes in over 5,000 animal every year, of these, nearly one half become adoptable to the general public.

The Ingham County Animal Shelter maintains close relationships with many of the local rescue groups and citizen volunteers. The Ingham County Animal Shelter is working very hard to bridge that traditional gap between Animal Controls and Humane Societies by providing an open environment to those honest, hard working, animal caring, members of our community who assist us in finding loving homes for our unwanted pets.

Adopting a friend

Please read and research about the care and housing required for a new pet BEFORE buying the animal. This website provides a great deal of information on rabbit care and housing needs at

www.rabbit.org

Please consider adopting a rabbit from your local shelter.

Here's what you need to know for an adoption from our facility...

2. Check with the office staff to see if it is currently available for adoption. Please have the animal ID number and pet's name for fastest service.

3. We attempt to neuter or spay and rabies vaccinate ALL animals adopted from this facility . In the event these services are not done at the time of adoption, deposit monies are taken.

4. An implanted microchip that provides identification for the pet's lifetime may be purchased for an additional fee at the time of adoption.

5. All dogs will either be licensed or a deposit taken for licensing at the time of adoption. These monies are a included in the adoption fee to the shelter. If the dog goes outside the county the license must be purchased and a receipt show to the shelter for a refund of the deposit money.

6. There are suggestions on the placement of puppies and kittens in homes with small children. Please see your veterinarian for details.

7. Our refund policy requires that you have your pets Vet checked within 48 hours of adoption. Plese have your receipt and/ or statement from your veterinarian available if it becomes necessary to return the pet and request a refund.
