Who We Are:
The Allegan County Animal Shelter is proud to have opened our brand new shelter located directly across the parking lot from the old animal shelter! We are a great place to find a family pet or companion. Many people are surprised at the wonderful dogs and cats that become available here at the shelter. Some of the pets that find their way here are purebred and others are a unique one of a kind mix. Although our Petfinder list is updated weekly, the best way to find a new or lost friend is to come to the shelter. When you see a pet listed on Petfinder which you might be interested in adopting, please act on it as soon as you see it! This will give you the best chance to adopt the pet and will give the pet the best chance of attaining a home. We encourage that you take the time to review the responsibility of taking on a new furry friend and familiarize yourself with the type of animal you are choosing. Animals find their way here as strays as well as being owner surrenders. If you suspect your animal may be at the shelter and do not see him/her on our petfinder list, you should come down and check the shelter itself or call us at 269-686-5112. The shelter hours are Monday-Friday, 11am-4pm.
Please spay and neuter all pets you own. This will help cut down on the endless number of homeless animals that come into shelters everyday!!
The Adoption Process:
Contact the shelter about an animal you are interested in by calling 269-686-5112. If you would like to adopt an animal please print off our adoption application from our county website and fax it to us at 269-686-4715: Adoption Application Link
We will choose which applicant best fits a particular animal. If you are having a hard time contacting the shelter it is best to leave a message with you name, number, and the pet's ID number. Your call will be returned as soon as possible, thank you very much for your patience!
Adoption fees: $50.00 for dogs/puppies and $33.00 for cats/kittens ($50 if you adopt two cats or kittens together) plus the cost of spaying/neutering (if applicable).

Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone.
