10:00 am and 5:30 pm
Saturdays
8:00 am until 11:30 am.

We stop interviews an half hour before the kennels close.

Hi, my name is Holly . I am a 5 month old, Pit bull/Rottweiler mix, red/brown, female dog and I would like to go home. I am a very nice dog, I love to be with people, I like to play with toys and would love to live in a forever home. I should do well living in any new environment and would love to find a forever home. If you would like to meet me please call or better yet visit the shelter.

My name is Jeorge, I came to the shelter as a stray and would love to find a new forever home!! I'm a gorgeous brown tiger, short haired, male kitten, about 5 months old. I would love to keep you company on the couch Take me home and I promise to entertain & love you forever.


My name is Jacob, and I want to go home! I want to be on the couch and watch movies, eat popcorn and be petted for hours. I am very friendly and I love to play with toys. I am a 5 month old, brown tiger & white, male, short hair cat, and I am ready to go!! I was brought to the shelter after I was found stray. Much like Hurricane Katrina there are an amazing amount of animals that will need your help so stay tuned for ways to donate in order to better help the animals in their time of need.

Who We Are

The Kent County Animal Shelter is dedicated to creating good relationships between animals and people. We strive to maintain a productive and responsible adoption program in addition to our county animal control role.

Adopting a friend

Adoption fees are as follows:

Dogs:

$70.00 Adoption Fee
$80.00 or $90.00 Spay or Neuter

$4.50 License Fee
Total: $154.50 or $164.50 ($74.50) if they are already spayed or neutered)

Cats:

$25.00 - $50.00 Adoption Fee (based on age of animal)
$55.00 - $70.00 Spay or Neuter

Total: $80.00 - $120.00

Senior Citizens (62 and Over) pay a $45 adoption fee for dogs, but are still responsible for applicable license and spay and neuter fees.

**Any animal available for adoption will be spayed or neutered before going home.**

Please consider adopting a companion from us. These pets are willing and able to be your friend for life!

The Kent County Animal Shelter is located at 711 Ball Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our phone number is 616-336-3209. We are open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am until 11:30 am. We stop interviews 1/2 hour before we close. We are closed Sundays and Holidays.
