About 3 months ago two separate families, struggling financially for a few years came to the heart wrenching decision to take their pets to the local pound because they could no longer afford to buy them food. Even though WAGS is primarily a dog rescue we rennovated a "garden shed" to house these 9 cats. Now with ample windows and a carpeted floor all the cats are adjusting...BUT come winter there is no heat to this shed SO... Trying to do our part in the ever growing cat overpopulation WAGS saved these precious, beautiful, loving cats from being euthanized. Each cat has cost WAGS about 80.00 to fix, innoculate, and worm...however, we will not charge a cat adoption fee (but will accept any donation). WAGS is praying we will find wonderful families for these cats before winter!!
Check out the many other wonderful dogs WAGS has up for adoption. Scan down this front page until you find the "click here for other pets at this shelter"and click on those highlighted words. Please note that there may be two pages of dogs!!!
Dogs at WAGS are kept in a home like setting so that they can develop good manners and make the transition into their next home smoother. Their personalities are observed and we get to know them well enough to describe their behavior to their new prospective families to prevent unwanted surprises.
News
It has been a very slow process, but it IS becoming a "vogue" thing to adopt a rescued or pound pet rather than buy a pure bred from breeders or pet shops. More and more people are willing to "recycle the throwaways" and begin to put an end to the senseless killing of our nation's adoptable pets.
Who We Are
Wonderful And Grateful Strays sanctuary is a place on earth where pets that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected, can stay while a loving home is found for them. I specialize in rescuing mixed breed mutts which are typically the first ones abandoned. My heart goes out these special kids. WAGS has placed hundreds of rescued pets from off the streets, as well as, the precious adoptable pets that have landed in local animal control shelters that were not adopted and were scheduled for being put down to make room for the incoming.
At WAGS spirits are re-energized and sad memories are replaced with daily walks and endless playtime if they choose.
Adopting a friend
Please consider your lifestyle and availability carefully before you adopt a pet. Dogs and cats really do bond for life. I work very closely with prospective families to make sure this is our animal friend's last stop!
Please remember to be patient as your new pet adjusts. Even in the perfect new home, it will be a challenging, unfamiliar experience! Before you apply for a pet, ask yourself if you are willing to take the time to help it adjust to your home.
Adopting saves lives! WAGS is committed to this endeavor and would be delighted to help you find a lifetime companion.
