LENAWEE HUMANE SOCIETY ADOPTION POLICY
In order to adopt a pet from LHS, you must meet the following conditions:
The Lenawee Humane Society reserves the right to refuse adoptions to anyone. Each one of our animals has different needs and we try to place them accordingly. Please understand that completing an adoption application does not guarantee you will be approved.
No animals will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead our staff or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application.
Please allow a minimum of 1 hour for us to complete the adoption process once you arrive at our shelter and have filled out an application for adoption. This allows us to ensure our animals are going to loving homes and also to answer any questions you may have. You may fax or e-mail an adoption application to us at any time to get a head start on the approval process. We keep submitted applications on file for one year.
All adoptions stop at 4:00 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience and will continue the approval process for any submitted applications on our next business day.
Adoption Prices are as follows:
DOGS
CATS
All of our animals are current on age-appropriate vaccinations and tests. All cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and microchipped before leaving our facility.
Please visit our Official Web Site for more information and to find an Adoption Application: www.lenhumanesoc.org .
The Lenawee Humane Society (LHS) is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to caring for unwanted animals and providing them with preventative medical treatment, food, and shelter until we can find them a new home. Founded in 1921, the Lenawee Humane Society is incorporated by the State of Michigan but receives no government support. LHS is supported solely by adoption fees, donations, and membership dues. As a Society, we believe that all life should be revered and that all living creatures should be treated with kindness and respect.
Animals place up for adoption reside at LHS indefinitely. Animals are not euthanized except in cases of extreme aggression, unrelievable suffering, or terminal illness.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture's Animal Health Division regularly inspects our shelter to ensure that we meet government standards of housing and care.
