Who We Are
The Best of Friends Humane Society, Inc. is a 501(c)3 agency as designated by the Federal government. All donations to help our homeless animals are tax exempt and NO donations are spent on administrative costs! "Best of Friends" is a no-kill shelter giving each of our beautiful companion animals all the time they need to find the perfect "forever home". Our shelter is located in a peaceful country setting surrounded by trees and tranquility where our animals are cared for and nurtured by dedicated volunteers and our shelter manager, Del Harvey and her husband, Dean. When you adopt a pet from our shelter, it will come to you with an up-to-date shot record and, if the animal is old enough, it will have been either spayed or neutered.
Adopting a friend
Our pet adoption process requires that you fill out an adoption form that will give us a better idea of the kind and type of "best friend" that will suit your wants, life-style and needs. All of our pets have been thoroughly evaluated as to temperament, energy level and physical needs to ensure that a permanent placement in the proper home takes place. A good match between pet and family ensures a lasting home. The Best of Friends Humane Society, Inc. charges a nominal fee for adopting one of our loving, healthy animals to help ensure that we turn no homeless pet away from our doors due to financial concerns.
We also require that ALL young puppies and kittens that leave our care be either spayed or neutered when they reach the proper age to do so. We are always available after the adoption to help new owners with questions about their pets. Pet ownership is a big responsibility, but often potential behavior problems can be easily solved with a little help from Best of Friends.
