WHO WE ARE
In 1998 a group of women bonded together with a common mission to rescue purebred cats from distressed situations and to place them in loving, permanent homes. Why single out purebred cats? Because, many well known groups existed for domestic cats, but none specifically for the purebred feline. Thus, a niche was filled and Backdoor Friends Purebred Cat Rescue was officially organized as a 501-(C)3 nonprofit organization. Our group has three permanent board members and a host of volunteers. We have processed over 1,000 cats since our first gathering as a rescue organization. All of these cats were tested for the FIV/FELV virus, vaccinated, spay/neutered (if age permitted) and ultimately placed into loving homes. Our goal is to continue our mission by selectively matching our cats personality with prospective adoptive families.
NOTE: You must be 21 years or older to adopt from Backdoor Friends Purebred Cat Rescue. Also, the home owner or apartment lessee must also sign the contract if different than the adopter.

We need your Shoes
"What" you say? A cat rescue wants my shoes? Yes, it's true. We have a new fundraiser that benefits you by clearing out closet space, benefits people that need footwear, benefits Backdoor Friends as we receive payment for the shoes we collect and it keeps them out of the landfill. It's called ShoeBox Recycling.
ShoeBox recycling says no skates, no heavy winter boots, no ski boots, no flip flops, no shoes with holes in them, but they can use any other type of men's, women's and children's family footwear: slippers, sandals, tennis shoes, dress boots, heels & flats, etc. Please place your donated shoes in a sealed box labeled with BDF CAT RESCUE #305. Drop off the box to the UPS Store at 35560 Grand River, corner of Drake, during business hours.
