You can reach the shelter by turning on east Victory Way just north of the State Police Post and the American Legion. You will see the buildings and chain link fence back to the right, (south). You've found us! Our current hours are Monday 8AM-Noon Tuesday 8AM-Noon Wednesday 8AM-Noon and 1PM - 5PM\ Thursday 10AM-2PM Friday 10AM-2PM Saturday 10AM-2PM Closed on Sunday. We are currently planning to build half of our new facility and then adding the second half when we can. We are very lucky to have PET PALS. Pet Pals is a group that was formed to help raise money for a new shelter. They are always looking for new ideas and people. If you have any suggestions? Please e-mails us at this site. Would like to join Pet Pals? The group meets the last Thursday of each month at 5:15PM in the Luce County Courthouse. You can also donate to the spay-neuter program and/or the new building fund by making a check out to Pet Pals and sending it to Pet Pals, P.O.Box 345, Newberry, MI 49868. (You can specify which it is used for if you want to.) Thank you!!!! All donations are very much in need and appreciated. We are very thankful for each and every one of them. We would never have gotten this far without all the help and support from our community and the surrounding areas. So to each and every one of you, THANK YOU!!!!!

Who We Are

Luce County Animal Shelter is a county run shelter. Animal Control is funded by a special millage voted on every 4yrs.by the people of Luce county. It is used for Animal Control for wages, gas and maintenance for the Animal Control vehicle, uniforms, the shelter expenses, (gas, electric, etcetera), and any expenses incurred by our shelter pets not covered by the adoption fees, etcetera. .

Adopting a friend: NOTE: It is up to you to be sure your vet accepts our certificate. If you do not live in the U.P. but want to adopt a dog from us? Talk to us. Our fee for a dog is $75.00. Cats are $60.00. We have several vets working with us to save these animals, so when you adopt from us and use them it covers the spay or neuter, the rabies and a booster and worming.
