ALWAYS keep collars on with TAGS so incase of him/her getting loose and brought to the shelter we can then call the proper owner to pick him/her up.

*****We are now collecting empty ink-jet cartridges as a fundraiser. Drop off spots have been set up, and you may drop off your cartridges at the Animal Shelter, Kocher's Market in Hale, the Whittemore Library, Independent Bank on Newman Street in East Tawas, Please put the cartridges back into the box of the new ones, or into ziplock sandwich bags. We hope that this source of revenue will help us raise funds for our various programs. We sincerely thank these businesses for their graciousness in assisting us.
***Upon adopting a new family member, adoptive parents are entitled to a free vet check from the Iosco County Vets within 72 hours of adoption. We wish to thank Dr. Drombowski and Farm and Pet Clinic, and Dr. Falker and King at Falker Veterinary Care Clinic and Dr. Burg and Tawas Animal Hospital for providing this most important service.
***Animal adoptions are $10.00 for any cat or dog, with a $25.00 deposit if the pet is not sterilized and refunded upon the timely sterilization of the animal. Adopting an animal from this shelter will entitle you to a rebate for having your animal fixed. The rebate amounts are $12 for a female dog, $10 for a male dog or female cat, and $8 for a male cat. Also, we have a $25.00 voucher redeemable with proof.

***We are open Monday thru Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to Noon, closed Sundays and holidays.
The shelter is located eight miles west of Tawas City on highway M-55 and six miles east of the intersection of highways M-55 and M-65.
