TODAY'S SPECIAL PET - Buddy

Who We Are

We are a small rural, county shelter in an area of 524 square miles and a population of about 28,000. Please come see our animals ready for Donate a Bed adoption, and feel free to take them for a little walk. We are always looking for volunteers to help us. We have room for only 9 dogs and 6 cats. When we are full, volunteers from Oceana County Animal Friends and Forever Pets take some of the animals into their homes and foster them until forever homes can be found. To make our animals more comfortable, we would appreciate donations of old clothes, towels, etc. for warm bedding, dry pet food, treats, cat toys and raw hide chews, etc. We are looking to update our dog beds and make our pets as comfortable as possible while they are with us. Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for another dog to sleep in comfort, please click here.

In November 2008, we requested a millage for a larger shelter for the increasing number of abandoned, stray and abused pets in Oceana County. Unfortunately, the millage proposal failed by less than 2%. We remain determined to find other ways to help our community raise the funds needed for an expansion. Our shelter currently holds 9 dog and 6 cat kennels. To be more humane and more efficient, and to save more animals, we need at least 20 more dog kennels and 15 cat enclosures.
