Who We Are

We are a small rural, county shelter in an area of 524 square miles and a population of about 28,000. We have room for only 9 dogs and 7 cats. Please come see our animals ready for adoption, and feel free to take them for a little walk. We are always looking for volunteers to help us.

Adoption Fees

DOGS/puppies:
Most dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots/rabies vaccine, heartworm tested and examined by a veterinarian prior to adoption.

The adoption fee is $95.00 if they were not spayed/neutered when they arrived at the shelter. The adoption fee for dogs that are already fixed when they arrive in the shelter is $50.00. (If they are not fixed when adopted because they are too young, you will receive: a $50.00 certificate toward the cost of the spay or neuter of an intact adopted animal ($50.00 from Oceana County which is required by Michigan State law to have a deposit on the spay/neuter).

CATS/kittens:
$60.00 if not spayed/neutered. In return for your adoption fee you will receive $35.00 in certificates, ($25.00 from Oceana County which is required by Michigan State law to have a deposit on the spay/neuter), and $10.00 towards the rabies vaccine. The adoption fee for a cat or kitten that is already fixed is $25.00 which comes with a $10.00 certificate towards the rabies vaccine.

The law requires that all dogs and cats adopted from a shelter be spayed or neutered.
