Before Filling Out An Application
Please make sure you do some research on the German Shepherd, or even a GSD mix, to make sure it is the right breed for you and your family. GSD's need a job and they can drive you crazy until you find that job for them. If you are a couch potato type then a German Shepherd is probably not for you. They are wonderful dogs for children if raised together properly (the dog and the child!)and they are very devoted to their family and friends. Also...I get people that want me to guarantee hips and health. I cannot do that as I do not generally even know who the parents of the dog may be. These are rescue dogs and we do not always know their history but we do temperment test them to the best of our ability to place them in the right home!

Surrendering an animal
The dog must be up to date on shots and heartworm tested or already on preventative depending on age of dog. There will be a $40 surrender fee.
Who We Are
We are a small rescue and foster for dogs that need a second chance at a new, loving family. Foster homes are always needed in this area. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to foster a special dog. Food, used dog crates and most other supplies or donations are always welcome!NSH works very closely with the Lake County Pet Adoption League and Lake County Animal Control. If you see a dog on their website that you may be interested please contact me or Sally at lcpal@netonecom.net and we will pass along as much info as possible. Many thanks to Sally and Amy for making the rescue of so many dogs possible!
Adopting a friend
ADOPTION APPLICATIONI require that a person or family meet the pet they are interested in adopting. For that reason I will not ship dogs.
