********UPDATE : 5-2-09- All of the Dobe's all broke with Parvo within 3 days of coming to MFRS which means they were exposed before they came to MFRS. Even with the best vet care MFRS lost the 2 older Dobes. But were able to pull through 4 of them. It cost MFRS 1000's to sve them. Now MFRS is waiting until they are medically ble to be spayed. MFRS really needs donations to help with all the medicals occured to save these sweeties. **** MFRS got a call from the Baldwin Area to come pick up 7 Doberman's from a Breeder who was in stage 4 Cancer and had went to Hospice to die. Well when we got to the breeders called "Doberman Paradise" it sure was not a Paradise! We found 1 male Blue, 2 Blue females and 4 Black/Tan females in really bad shape. They were all skinny , scared, torn up from having to fight over food and in a small feces covered area. The male was 8 months old and had been attacked by the Alpha female soo bad that he could not walk and was badly infected. He was started on antibiotics and given his first medicals. 24 hours later he broke with Parvo and even with the best treatment was unable to be saved. The remaining 6 girls are in foster care and doing well. They are going to need alot of healing and social interaction to be able to be adopted into families. One is an older special needs girl that is soo scarred and fearful of other dogs because of years of being beat up by the other females. MFRS is asking for donations to help with the medicals and treatments for these 6 special girls that deserve special homes after all they have been through.

ALL FROM EITHER ANIMAL CONTROLS THAT SEND UNADOPTED/CLAIMED PETS TO RESEARCH WHERE THEY HAVE HORRIBLE EXPERIMENTS PERFORMED ON THEM BEFORE DYING ! AND THE REMAINING WERE RESCUED FROM SHELTERS THAT KILL UNADOPTED/CLAIMED PETS IN A GAS CHAMBER .

**** MFRS 'S VET COST LAST YEAR 2008 - WAS OVER 25,000.00- AND THAT IS WITH USING LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINICS AND CUTTING AS MANY CORNORS AS WE CAN TO HELP SAVE MONEY. Donations are very down this year so doing rescue work is very hard.

She is a chunky girl- could use some walks! House trained. Very quite and laid back. She loves to ride in the car. Abby would be the perfect girl for an older couple that wants a friend to travel with them. Very Very cuddling and loving. She is a rare one. PLEASE EMAIL FOR AN APPLICATION

HE IS VERY VERY PRETTY. HE DOES HAVE IDEAS THOUGH OF HOW HIS OWNERS SHOULD BE - HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A GIRL SO HE COULD HAVE BEEN A DIVA! HE IS A VERY NICE LOVING HAPPY BOY.

MFRS IS A NON PROFIT CORPORATION AND 501 C 3 !! SO YOUR DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. MFRS IS NOT LIKE ALOT OF THE LARGER RESCUES WHO RECIEVE LARGE YEARLY GRANTS FROM LARGE CORPORATIONS- MFRS IS RUN BY PUBLIC DONATIONS. MFRS RESCUES FROM VERY LOW INCOME AREAS WHERE RESCUE WORK IS REALLY NEEDED.

WELL AFTER 2 LIVER SURGERIES ROXANNE IS UP AGAIN AND WE ARE TRYING TO CATCH UP ON EVERYTHING--SOO MUCH TO DO! *** MFRS IS ADDING ON TO THE SHELTER FOR STORAGE , 2 NEW CAT ROOMS, QUARNTEE ROOMS AND A ROOM TO MEET FAMILIES IN SO WE CAN HEAR THEM OVER THE DOGS! LOL MFRS IS REDOING ALL OF SHELTER INCLUDING INSIDE DOG KENNELS/CAT CAGE IN CERAMIC TILES. THIS WILL MAKE IT NICER FOR THE DOGS/CATS AND EASIER TO CLEAN. IT IS EXPENSIVE BUT WELL WORTH IT!!! ***DUE TO VET COST GOING UP -WE ARE FORCED TO RAISE ADOPTION FEES. ****WE SHOULD HAVE PICTURES OF OUR NEW SHELTER UP SOON .

**Who We Are**

MFRS is a small rural grass roots rescue shelter that finds loving qualified homes for homeless dogs, cats and pet birds. We are a spay/neuter rescue. All dogs/cats/kittens/puppies are up to date on Medicals before adoption .We work to educate the public to help stop abuse and mistreatment of pets. MFRS is a non-profit 501 C (3) ,non-funded , charitable rescue that is supported by donations. We now have 4 wonderful foster homes.

**Who We Rescue**

MFRS RESCUES FROM VERY LOW INCOME AREAS WHERE THE SHELTERS ARE OVER FLOWING WITH PETS BEING PUT TO SLEEP! MFRS GET'S MEDICALS DONE ON AND PLACES THE PETS THAT COME INTO MFRS AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE INTO APPROVED HOMES BECAUSE EACH DAY A PET IS WITH MFRS , ANOTHER PET AT AN ANIMAL CONTROL DIES! MFRS IS THE ONLY RESCUE THAT RESCUES FROM SOME OF THESE ANIMAL CONTROLS. MFRS DOES THE BEST THEY CAN AND STILL BE ABLE TO RESCUE AS MANY AS THEY CAN.

**Adopting A Friend**

You must fill out an application be approved to adopt from MFRS. ALL PETS ARE ADOPTED AS INSIDE PETS ONLY. MFRS REQUIRES ALL DOGS IN THE HOME (OVER 6 MONTHS OF AGE )TO BE SPAYED/NEUTERED AND TO BE UP TO DATE AND HAVE A GOOD HISTORY OF BEING UP TO DATE ON SHOTS & HEARTWORM. ALL CATS IN THE HOME MUST BE (OVER 6 MONTHS OF AGE) SPAYED/NEUTERED AND BE UP TO DATE ON SHOTS. INCLUDING INSIDE ONLY CATS! There is a mim placement fee to help cover part of medicals. WE DO CHECK REFERENCES INCLUDING VET REFERENCES! ****NO SHIPPING!!!!! ****PERSON ADOPTING MUST MEET PET AND SIGN PAPERWORK!

**Placement Fees**

PLACEMENT FEES (***vet fees keep going up and MFRS has had to lower adoption fees to be able to find good homes in these times.)for most PUPPIES IT IS 50.00 AND UP PLUS A REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER DEPOSIT.(unless noted otherwise)this includes : 1. Puppy Shots(some have 2-4 sets) 2. Wormings 3. Puppy has been started on heartworm preventive 4. Puppy will be on a monthly flea /tick preventive from the vet 6. micro chip and PRE PAID registration(WHEN WE HAVE THE FUNDS) 8. Puppies old enough have had their Rabie shot.(WE HAVE BEEN LOW ON FUNDING SO MFRS HAS NOT BEEN UNABLE TO SPAY/NEUTER ALL PUPPIES BEING ADOPTED AT THIS TIME- WE ARE HOPING TO BE ABLE TO GO BACK TO ALL BEING SPAY/NEUTERED BEFORE ADOPTION SOON)

PLACEMENT FEES for most ADULT DOGS are 75.00 -and up. (unless otherwise noted)this includes: 1. at least one adult set of shots (most have 2 sets) 2. Rabie Shot (if available through clinic when it is spayed/neutered) 3. Spay/Neuter 4. Worming 5.Heartworm test (if pet was positive then treatment and retest) 6.Pet is started on HEARTGUARD PLUS heartworm preventive 7. Pet is on FRONTLINE PLUS monthly flea control from the vet. 8. micro chip and PRE PAID registration(WHEN FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE)

PLACEMENT FEES for ADULT CATS are $25.00 (unless otherwise noted)this includes: 1. Spay/neuter 2. Leukemia Tested- negative 3. Worming 4. pet is on FRONTLINE PLUS monthly flea control from the vet 5. at least one set of adult shots(most have 2 sets)

PLACEMENT FEES for most KITTENS are $10.00 PLUS A REFUNDABLE $25.00 SPAY/NEUTER DEPOSIT.(unless otherwise noted)this includes: 1. Leukemia tested- negative 2. Worming 4. on FRONTLINE PLUS monthly flea control from the vet 5. at least one set of kitten shots(most have 2 sets)

**Volunteering**

MFRS is always in need of Volunteers to help at adopt a days, foster, help at the shelter, help with transporting, work with the dogs/puppies to learn there basic commands , help with fund raising and to just come pet/love the pets here at the shelter. If your interested in volunteering PLEASE CONTACT US!
