THANK YOU FOR LOOKING TO SAVE AN URGENT DOG IN NEED!!
ALPHA DOG RESCUE IS A PLACEMENT SERVICE PROVIDED BY A GROUP OF ANIMAL ADVOCATES THAT HELP REPUTABLE RESCUES IN THE SOUTH TO PLACE HEALTHY, WELL MANNERED DOGS OF ALL AGES/SIZES/BREED MIXES IN FOREVER HOMES IN NEW ENGLAND, WHERE DOGS DO NOT FACE THE UNFORTUNATE POSSIBILITY OF BEING PUT TO SLEEP DUE TO OVERCROWDING.
WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP YOU SAVE A DOG EVEN IF IT IS NOT PART OF OUR GROUP AS WE HAVE MANY RESCUE CONNECTIONS TO HELP ANY DOG IN NEED. WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER FACILITY OR ADOPTION CENTER HERE IN MAINE, HOWEVER WE DO HAVE FOSTER HOMES LOCALLY TO HELP GET THESE DOGS THAT ARE POSTED ON OUR SITE TO SAFETY IN VARIOUS AREAS OF NEW ENGLAND. WE VOLUNTEER OUR SERVICES BY USING THE SHELTER CONNECTIONS WE HAVE TO PROMOTE WONDERFUL "KILL SHELTER" REFUGEES TO FIND HOMES AS WELL AS ENSURING PROPER DESCRIPTIONS OF ALL BEHAVIORS OF THE DOGS LISTED ON OUR SITE AND ENSURING ALL DOGS ARE PROFESSIONALLY TEMPERAMENT TESTED PRIOR TO LISTING FOR ADOPTION.
WE ALSO AID LOCAL DOGS IN FINDING HOMES DIRECTLY FROM THEIR PREVIOUS HOME IF REQUESTED BY ANYONE WHO HAS A DOG AND NEEDS TO FIND A HOME FOR THEM.
MOST ALL OF THE DOGS ON OUR SITE ARE RESCUED FROM HIGH KILL SHELTERS AND OFTEN ONLY HAVE DAYS LEFT SO PLEASE CALL ASAP IF YOU CAN HELP BY FOSTERING OR ADOPTING! WE HELP BY PLACING DOGS DIRECTLY INTO HOMES FROM HIGH KILL SHELTERS THAT OFTEN EUTHANIZE INHUMANELY (gas chambers, heartsticking).
ALL DOGS ON OUR SITE ARE SAVED BASED ON TEMPERAMENT ONLY. WE SPECIALIZE IN PLACING THE RIGHT DOG TO THE RIGHT FAMILY SO IT'S A FOREVER MATCH. WE DO KNOW THAT IT'S NOT ALWAYS IDEAL TO ADOPT A DOG SIGHT UNSEEN, SO WE OFFER OUR SERVICES FREE OF CHARGE TO ENSURE NOBODY IS "STUCK" WITH THEIR DOG BY ENSURING YOU HAVE "BACK-UP" WITH OUR GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS HERE IN NEW ENGLAND. This means that if you adopt a dog from any of the shelters in the south that list dogs on our site and it doesn't work out, Alpha Dog Rescue will place your dog in a more suitable home for you and/or offer training advice, possible fostering locally of your dog and veterinary recommendations!
ADOPTION FEES TYPICALLY RANGE $275 to $375, DEPENDING ON WHICH RESCUE GROUP THEY COME FROM, THIS INCLUDES THE USDA LICENSED TRANSPORTER FEE TO GET YOUR DOG TO YOU. THIS WILL INCLUDE ALL VETERINARY CARE APPROPRIATE TO THEIR AGE AT THE TIME OF ADOPTION: SPAY/NEUTER: If the dog you adopt is not altered at the time of adoption, you must have the dog altered by the age of 6 months (OR WITHIN 30 DAYS) and provide proof to the shelters you will be adopting from, a contract will be provided by the transport company, the rescue the are adopted from or us.
We do also recommend that you take your new dog for a check-up within the first 7-14 days. We recommend that a fecal exam be done to ensure they do not have intestinal parasites, even though they are treated prior to being transported to New England. All USDA and state laws must be followed to ensure your new forever friend is healthy and free of infectious disease. The stress of transport from the south after being in a high kill shelter, then in a quarantine facility, then going to a new home can cause them to have changes in behavior and suppress their immune system, even after the USDA regulated quarantine. We are here to guide you with our expertise through any problems you may have so please contact us if that is the case. We will gladly help! Though none of the amazing rescue groups we work with would ever send up a dog that shows any ailments or is knowingly sick, there can be possibilities of complications with adopting a rescue dog and we want adopters to be aware of the common ailments a transported rescue dog can face. Alpha Dog Rescue nor any of our affiliates do not warrant the health of the dog or the future temperament, though all dogs are issued a USDA health certificate by a licensed veterinarian prior to placement.
Please follow all the necessary procedures and laws to ensure your new lucky dog is in great health. ALL ADOPTION FEES/DEPOSITS ARE NON REFUNDABLE AND VETERINARY BILLS INCURRED AFTER ADOPTION ARE NOT COVERED BY ALPHA DOG RESCUE OR ANY OTHER SHELTER WHOM YOU ARE ADOPTING FROM
