Who We Are

ADAR Animal Rescue/New England is a no-kill rescue. We are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of puppies in need. We work together with ADAR Animal Rescue/Alabama, a 501c3 non-profit organization, in Tuscaloosa, AL. Our puppies all come from the efforts of ADAR Animal Rescue/Alabama and their wonderful dedicated foster homes that take care of these babies for so long before coming to the north. The majority of puppies in the south will be euthanized within days of being dropped off at a shelter. We "pull" them and get them into quarantine for 5-6 weeks with a private foster family until they are fully vetted. Once this is completed they head north to new foster homes & furever homes!

Adopting a friend

Our adoption process involves the usual adoption fee ($400), an application, vet reference, interview/home visit and an adoption contract must be signed.

To hold your puppy, once you have made your decision, we require a $206 deposit, there is a 3% surcharge taken by the credit card company. The $200 balance is due when you pick up your dog or puppy!

This includes:

  • $275 adoption fee- this tax deductible donation to the rescue funds the care of the dog you are adopting, as well as other dogs in our rescue
  • $ 25 health certificate cost
  • $100 for our own private transport from AL to New England so that they are not exposed to any other dogs we know nothing about.

  • 1) spay or neuter
  • 2) microchip
  • 3) DHLPP with Corona (1st vaccine, 2nd booster & third booster- 4th if old enough to have one)
  • DHLPP stands for:
  • D- distemper
  • H- hepatitis
  • L- leptospirosis
  • P- parvo
  • P- parainfluenza
  • 4) rabies vaccine IF puppy is old enough
  • 5) Bordetella (kennel cough)
  • 6) worming- 3 consecutive days once per week during fostered quarantine
  • 7) Capstar'd (rids puppy of any fleas within an hour)
  • 8) Frontline Plus- flea/tick prevention
  • 9) Ivermectin- heartworm prevention
  • 10) vet records
  • 11) health certificate to cross state lines- equivalent to a physical exam- including fecal

All our puppies have had three sets of DHLPP with Corona, the last one given within 2-3 days of the transport, this should protect them (there is never a 100% guarantee) from Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvo, Parainfluenza and Coronavirus, but they need two more boosters within the next 6 weeks, they have had a Bordetella vaccine to protect from Kennel Cough, but this does not prevent all strains of kennel cough any more than our flu vaccine protects against every strain of the flu- these puppies may never have been in a shelter, but if they were, they have been out of it for over 5-6 weeks.

Please understand that puppies can often be very stressed from their transport and their change in living conditions, which can compromise their immune system and between the stress and the compromised immune system, it is very common for them to get Coccidia. This is an internal parasite that can only be treated, never cured (ALL dogs in the world have this, but it lies dormant until stress triggers the parasite to multiply- easily treated).

Another factor for puppies coming from the south to the north is climate change, again the stress from their transport and their change in living conditions, which can compromise their immune system, can lead to an Upper Respiratory Infection- again easily treated, but needs to be treated as soon as you notice a cough, sneeze, yucky eyes or a runny nose.

One of Our Featured Pets

Hi

My name is Lisa Marie, Lissie or Ears- take your pick! I'm a Yellow Lab/Corgi X and I'm a great girl!! I have a very long story so to read more about me please click on my picture!

What is the true secret of our dog's beauty?

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog.

A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness.

He will sleep on the cold ground where the winter winds blow, and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side.

He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the sores and wounds that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his Pauper master as if he were a prince".

The true beauty of a dog comes from the inside out. It is their incredible ability to give unconditional love, regardless of whether or not they are pure bred or in perfect physical condition!

Please Email Us!

We do not have a shelter location. Our puppies are kept in private foster homes in Alabama for 5-6 weeks as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes and also to have enough time to have them completely vetted, including, at least, three sets of vaccines for their health and safety. If you are interested in adopting one of our puppies, please contact us. We require our puppies to live inside your home as an important member of your familiy.

How Our Puppies/Dogs Travel!

If your puppy arrives in New England by our own ground transport, we require a $400 non-refundable donation to the rescue in order to adopt one of our puppies

We have a private, paid ground transport every 4 weeks, with our puppies only on the transport, so that we keep the puppies long enough to have had, at least, three sets of puppy vaccines and will only require one to two more plus a rabies vaccine when they arrive to their new family, some of the puppies will have had 4 sets of vaccines and their rabies before arriving if they are old enough.

  • $400 Total adoption costs
  • $275 adoption fee
  • $100 transport cost
  • $ 25 health certificate cost

If your new puppy or dog is large and over 6 months old, has been in quarantined foster for at least four weeks, has been fully vetted and is ready to go, he/she could travel to New England on this USDA approved transport: http://www.petsllc.net, they leave every two weeks from Alabama, and arrive in New England on Saturday afternoon.
