~~~~PLEASE HELP~~~~ A dog (since named Cocoa) was found in the town of Corinna and brought to the shelter. She was underweight and covered in feces and urine with lesions on her legs. It appeared that she was left in a cage to starve before someone decided to finally let her run free. We are still searching for any information on who committed this horrible abuse, neglect and abonment against Cocoa. If you have any information at all please call the Somerset Humane Society at 474-9534. http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/someret-humane-societymanager-dog-appears-neglected-malnourished_2011-04-08.html
PLEASE HELP!!
We are in need of a sink for our medical room. If you have any type of free good condition sink, we will take it.
  • Cat litter
  • Paper Towels
  • We need throw away blankets
PLEASE CALL before bringing us an animal. We will not accept animals that have a history of attacking or aggression. There are some dog breeds that we do not accept as surrenders.
We have some beautiful dogs and cats that need good homes. They all have their own unique personalities and behaviors. They all want homes and are looking for the right person to love them.
*ANNOUNCEMENTS IN MEMORY
In memory of NORMA JEAN WHITE who recently passed and her love for animals, donations are requested to be made to the Somerset Humane Society, P.O.Box 453, Skowhegan, Maine 04976. We are still in the process of remodeling and getting a medical room set up to help care for the animals here as well as do more spay/neuter.
Our prices have changed do to new state mandates. Cats are now $80 and Dogs are now $150. Both of these prices include a deposit insuring that the animal will be fixed.
PLEASE never approach a stray or injured animal. They can be dangerous. If you find one please call your local police or animal control officer. Sick, injured, and stray animals can get frightened easily. If you try to tame one or pick one up you are putting yourself and your loved ones at risk.
Please do not go into the fenced part without an employee. This area is for the animals to exercise in and for them to have one on one time with the employees. Thank you for your cooperation.
Upcoming Fundraisers and Events
We have a free to a good home board for the towns that are contracted with our shelter. These animals do not get any of the extras that come with pets adopted from us The only way to find out more information on these animals is to call their contact number. The Shelter does not have them nor does it know all the details about the animals.
