Who We Are
The Animal Welfare Society is an animal resource center and shelter which accepts over 3,500 animals annually from 21 contract towns in York County, Maine. We always have a large selection of dogs, cats, and all kinds of small animals including rabbits, Guinea Pigs, ferrets, birds and more! We have extensive and active Volunteer, Humane Education, and Dog Training programs as well. We also offer a behavior helpline and a program to help pets of victims of domestic violence. Adopting a friend
Adopting a new companion is a fun and joyous experience. Come in, fill out a questionnaire and meet with all of the available animals. All cats over 6 months are fee-waived! Adoption includes spay/neuter, feline leukemia testing, first vaccinations, and a tag with collar. Dogs over six months have an $190.00 adoption fee which includes spay/neuter, heart worm test, first set of vaccinations, tag with collar, leash and discounted obedience course.
